Re: On this day in MAY Bonahistory (& the starting of the BH Threads)

Maybe something like Phil's gig guide where the first post can always be updated. Or make room in advance for the first 12 posts to be updated - one for each month.

Change the title to "On this Day In May Bonahistory", and have a separate topic for every month. hmm

Royal Albert Hall: 5/4/09 - lots of the faithful at that show, many journeyed from far & wide.
I also saw Joe at the Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville Indiana on the one year anniversary of RAH: 5/4/10.

Wow that's some research!!

I honestly can't believe it's only 5 years! I feel I've led a lifetime of experiences since then. That gig changed my life. You all coming out to the shows changes my life everyday. I am extremely grateful to all of you for the support you have shown both myself and my family.

Re: On this day in MAY Bonahistory (& the starting of the BH Threads)

What a fantastic trip down memory lane reliving those heady days. I had just discovered Joe and was lurking on the site, vicariously enjoying the posts from the fans then and wishing I had been just a little earlier finding him. I would have been there too.
Who knew where that would take us all at that time. Some names have faded from the poster list, some remain, but the music has gone on. Rock On Joe,
Great work Roadcase Boy, acknowledged by the man himself. cool

Time flies, doesn't it? Memories for me that will last a lifetime.
I can't imagine the memories for you Joe. What a special event!

Re: On this day in MAY Bonahistory (& the starting of the BH Threads)

I can't believe it has been five years!  That night may have changed Joe's life, but it also changed a lot of things for a lot of his fans as well.  I made so many new friends that night, friendships that persist to this day and my life has been forever enriched by each and every one of them.  I will always get goosebumps when I hear the opening notes of Django, and I remember the look on Joe's face when he looked around that sold-out hall.  A night of perfection and new beginnings for so many.

The pictures I took were few (not allowed to photograph that night and the seat I was in didn't allow me to go "stealth") but every minute of that night is etched in my brain.  Then the perfect ending for a perfect night was the party at Cocoon, a grand get-together for so many of us from around the world and Joe even joined us for quite a while.  A night for the ages.

Pictures from Cocoon - https://www.flickr.com/photos/24057301@ … 763983511/

An amazing night shared with amazing people!

Re: On this day in MAY Bonahistory (& the starting of the BH Threads)

So cool to read all this special history. As always, wish we had been around back in those days. So thankful that the RAH show was filmed and aired repeatedly on PBS since happening upon it that one weekend in March 2 years ago is what started it all for us and our lives have not been the same since and that's a good thing smile

Re: On this day in MAY Bonahistory (& the starting of the BH Threads)

A good day to relive this Bonamoment. 5 years ago today and I would say everyone knew this was a big moment for one Joe selling out the RAH without ever mentioning Clapton's name. Clapton showing up was a bonus but the repercussions of his guest appearance is still paying dividends today. It got the attention of Palladia as well as PBS. and Joe has grown exponentially since the DVD footage aired. I think one of the all time best concert DVD's out there. I can't remember if I have shared this footage before I had it on an old Youtube account and tried to find it but I had it unlisted. Happened to find it on my hard drive and uploaded to my new channel. It is still unlisted. Must have the link to see it.

Lots of goosebump-worthy moments over the years following Joe, but THAT moment when Eric joined Joe on stage at the RAH is still number one for me. Thanks Jim!

Re: On this day in MAY Bonahistory (& the starting of the BH Threads)

Thank you Sandy for those links!  How did I miss David's great pictures?!! (Had to be a link in one of the RAH Threads … but I may have missed a post .. or a Thread … there are a few for RAH. smile  Great shots David!!  Yours of Cocoon were great too … more faces matched to the names!  (You're probably getting PM'd today to remove the names … to protect the innocent.)  What memory that night must be!  I will add the links to the date.

Jim … your video was so great!! Thanks for posting the link!

Wanted to post right after I saw it, but wanted your post and username to hang as long as it could to lure people in.  What a capture!!! Can't imagine …being one of the handful seeing and hearing that … and knowing it is going to happen soon in front of thousands (… then seen forever by millions.)  The anticipation it must have created! Thank you for adding it to BH. Can I add the link to the BH date?  (Didn't know if you plan to keep the vid active for just a short while.)

Thanks again,
Sam
