Guitar of choice? (Page 2 of 6)

Scagey - I guess it really depends on my mood of the day but for the most part I use a Strat. The Strat I use the most as of late is a HSS I built using Bare Knuckle pickups. I can get most any tone I want with that guitar. You might want to check into BKP as they're located in the UK. I was turned onto them by my brother and I absolutely love them. These days to to health reasons I seem to be more into building/refinishing than I am jamming. Most every guitar I own or have owned I have tweaked or modified to some degree.

Yes I have G.A.S (gear acquisition syndrome).

If your looking into buying your first guitar your on the right track by asking questions. I will suggest that you don't try to buy top of the line right off. Find a good used guitar that feels good and has good tone unplugged.

Oh yes. FMT Strats are really something. I have one too. Just in this... Odd bronze-burst.

I had a case of GAS today went and bought a Epiphone Standard in Trans Amber...

Gonna crack a JB or Antiquity in the bridge I think its a lovely sweet cheap guitar with a nice action a suprising sound unplugged aswell shame the pickups arnt up to much though

The bonamassa les pauls are gonna run out any time soon, dunno how many are left now, but im checking out the '08 standard in goldtop, theyre not available here till october, but i heard some1 on the forum saying that they play good, i was wonderin if that means any style? Or just blues, right now, im looking for a guitar thats more playable than a PRS. Afterall, what got me into Joe in the begining was his faster stuff, and those two tone bends WHOOO!
I might look for ones online, they dont seem two expensive, i currently have an SE custom, but i know it isnt top of the range, it will do for me. (just need to change the strings right noW!)
On the subject of strings, does anybody else use elixir nanowebs? They last much longer than any other strings, and if you look around, theyre cheaper than normal aswell!! My tutor has had the same strings on for nearly 6 months! Mine tend to rust faster than his for some reason, i sweat when i play, but thats off subjest.
So try them out ( elixirs AND prs's)

The discussion of strings was recently brought up on the Acoustic thread.  Of the Elixir brand, the Nanowebs are better than the Polywebs as far as natural feel and tone.  While not perfect, they come closer than the Polywebs that feel and sound like plastic.

As far as coated strings go, the D'Addario EXP's are great.  They feel good and last longer with a nice balanced tone.  Try 'em out.  You'll like 'em better than the Elixir's.

I'm anal when it comes to strings.  Each guitar gets a fresh string change once a week regardless of how many shows I do...well, not true.  I'll change them if I do more than 2-3 shows on a set of strings.  With my acoustic however I tend not to be as anal.  My Takamine is a little brite so a string that's a little older tends to sound a little better to me.
