Re: What song are you listening to right now?

new Ozzy hot damn, I just had to sample a few and while I won't call it brilliant there are some standouts, try this one on. Tom Morello makes a guest appearance as well as Elton John, but not on this song

He claims this is his first release ever that he wrote and recorded completely sober, somehow I believe him

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

your jazz sample today, I have never heard of these guys but it's right up my alley ............. Michel Cusson on guitar, I think he's really good. Evidently there are a lot of Canadians that have followed them through the years

Anybody ever heard of them ?

Last week-end was down in Richmond, at an unusual acoustic gig, hosted by friends John & George. This is one of the other acts who was on, Bosko Green and treat myself to a Live Solo album  he had, though I think he's a bit of a musical gadabout on the local scene. Still, pleasant session,  the album I think was recorded in a church, but I'm sure there's a  lot more about this guy to be discovered.

I was thinking about seeing John McLaughlin last week and remembered this steller album.

Two great guitarists playing with legendary support.

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

Dug this out from a soundtrack CD collecting dust in the corner of a shelf. Very stark, very powerful, as was the film that spawned it, In The Name of The Father.

Unusual track as it's about the first collaboration between Dublin schoolfriends and rival band leaders Paul Hewson and Fionán Hanvey; otherwise Bono and Virgin Prunes' Gavin Friday (and if you don't know Virgin Prunes, investigate with extreme caution as they were never an easy listen to the uninitiated).

The Electric Blues Reaction - Tchula Junction (2010)

Picked this gem up on Friday night, again from Troy Redfern’s merch table. Must be clearing out the attic,  as you can see, it’s a 10 year old remnant of Troy’s past life as guitar slinger with EBR along side Nick Smith on drums & Lead Vocals and Stuart McDonald on Bass. On first listen, remnant isn’t the right word, this is a lost treasure.

The majority of the tracks are Redfern penned, half of them being solo efforts but with the exception of Swamp Fever, it’s Smith who handles the vocals with a leather-lunged, tungsten tonsiled howl, reminiscent of rocker Doogie White (Rainbow, MSG, Yngwie Malmsteen). In fact the majority of the album absolutely rocks, dare I say, “Zeppelin-esque”, just a little lower on the register. It has to be a “Blues” album though, there’s a “train” song opening, Wrong Side of The Tracks except that Troy & harmonica guest Richard Evans sound more like a charging loco than the train soundbite opening…

Guess the "One Direction" boy-band background is blinkering me a bit to young Harry, but he's certainly nailed that cover; but did you also spot this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM_FR7I2Ttw ?

I think I posted this one around Christmas here on the forum and yes it is an incredible cover.  Matter of fact, both Mick Fleetwood and Stevie said it's the best cover of any of their songs.  Nicks has gone on to do some duets with Harry that are very good as well.  His new album is a lot more interesting than his debut album and an artist to watch in my book.

Btw, finally listened to Redfern's new album and I like it.
