Curby wrote:I wish I could come up with someone as cool as Snowy White or Joanne, who I've seen and talked to, but the blues is saved for special days at this time in my life. I lost an old friend today that occasionally mentored me as a young man. Like Rick Beck, we were born on the same day. This man was an iconic figure in my hometown and we were oddly connected to this singer....
From one of my favorite movies, Almost Famous....
My condolences Curby ... great song ... and one of my favorite movies as well .. (never saw that compliation video before.)
A magic element of music ... we meet friends thru it ... enjoy it with them ... and remember them with it when we're no longer together.
So true that last statement. Thanks for the post.
This place is so slow sometimes that I kind of feel i can post whatever i want #freedom
so, today's Joe instagram post sent me down the memory lane of my teen music and video fascinations

kind of stuck on listening to Lance right now, thought that Curby might enjoy this as it's a bit different than the fast blues rock stuff he typically plays. There is another one on Tell the Truth that also has some really good country flavor to it but I have yet to find it on the Utube. You don't want to miss the new band with Wes Jeans if they get close to you, they are tight as it comes

Brent Cobb - "Ain't a Road Too Long". Catchy song, good solo. Reminds me of The Black Crowes and Skynyrd. He's been touring with Chris Stapleton and it's for a reason.
Jon Lord - Gigue, Live at Vulkanhalle, Köln

That's a great one to get you perked up for the day...That got me bouncing just thinking about it....love me some Alvin Lee...
Good little song. Reminds of songs of my youth with a little slide guitar thrown in at the end.
Andy Jenkins "Genuine Heart"
I always think of my brother listening to this great song by one of my favorite groups. Larry Carlton does a more than amazing solo on "Kid Charlemagne".
Saw this quote from a fan and had to include it.....
Ran into Mr. Carlton on a Smooth Jazz Cruise. While he was signing the CD I just bought, I kind of whispered low...Mr. Carlton, thank you for the work on Kid Charlemagne. You inspired many of us. He stood still , for a moment...Looked up in the air to the right, recalling, and we had a small moment, he said thanks for remembering, Jon. xo
Forgot to mention Bernard Purdie is on drums in this song. Incredible playing!
For my brother Charles.
A couple of bands from Mississippi with new releases: The first is Bishop Gunn: http://bishopgunn.com/listen The second is Magnolia Bayou: http://www.magnoliabayou.com/music Both are well-worth checking out and let's hope they make it out of Mississippi soon to tour the rest of the US...
