The Bluesmoosefest in Groesbeek was the hell of a festival.
Nicest place you can imagine. Perfect spot.
Great bands, great sound, nice people even the weather was fine ...

Festival was opened with Ben Poole. And yes, this young Brit has a voice and can play. He started very rocky for the early afternoon ... so I needed some time to rock with him. I’m looking forward to see him again in Schöppingen.
Next guys on stage were Ryan McGarvey with Justin McLauchlin (bass) and Bjorn Hamre (drums) and the three were on fire. It was so darn good no words can describe. There was a run at the merch after the gig!
When Hokie Joint entered the stage the merch was still crowded. Hokie Joing played very loud, so I decided to leave the front rows and to have something to eat, comfortably seated at a beautiful terrace in the back where you still had an excellent view on the stage. Once again I have to say a perfect location.
Eric Steckel was next and so I went back to my place at the front. Eric is a pro on stage and no question that he can play guitar ... he finally got me groovin’ with the covers he played. Concept to rock people with covers works but I missed some brilliant ideas in his own songs.
Lights went on when it was time for Henrik Freischlader. When Henrik and band started to play we heard the best sound of all bands that came out of the loudspeakers. That was amazing! Set started very very good but at a certain point Henrik got a bit lost in his own solos.
When Henrik finished you could feel the tension in the audience, all were waiting for the jam. Who would be on stage and what would they play? Ryan joined Henrik on stage and they rocked the place with Foxy Lady. They played with heart and soul. Stunning! Mindblowing! They have to repeat that.

My heroes of the day: Ryan & band and the organizers of the Bluesmoosefest.

By the way, if you understand German, have a look at www.rocktimes.de for a review from a pro.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Agree Blues Sissi, what a great festival it was. I think Henrik Freischlader was the best, most divers playing that day and Ryan just behind him. They are both topplayers but this day Henrik , including the sound, was so great.I've seen Ryan many times before but when the sound is la bit less, it effects the performance. Martin Meinschaefer always does Henriks sound and as you heard , he always creats a big warm full sound no matter the venue. Respect to him!
New CD from Ryan is HOTSTUFF!
On Rocktimes is a review from the festival as well! www.bluesmagazine.nl will follow soon.

Thank you for the review Andre!  I like your method of inserting so much information into action-packed short sentences!  I am looking forward to obtaining the actual CD.

25 May - DE - Übach-Palenberg (near Aachen), Outbaix Musicclub

Walter, do we see us there???

Re: Ryan McGarvey

I'm on a cruiseboat to Norway from 19 to 26 may Eva sad.See you the day after in Groesbeek and next week at Kwadendamme.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

Hi Andre,
I'm not totally agree with you,but luckely tastes are different. For me Ryan was the best act at Groesbeek. The sound of Henrik Freischlader was as always very good. But i prefer the gig Ryan above that from Henrik. For me i became tired from the endless spinning in Henriks The Bridge and Wolkenwinde. These are 2 great songs and i love them a lot.But not in those too long versions. But that's my opinion. The sound of Henrik was warmer.

Re: Ryan McGarvey

still 3 days of waiting for Ryan . . .

Have a blast Bonapostle ... Some friends from Ingolstadt will be in Hamburg too. Hoped to get 2 days off for Hamburg but it's not possible.
4 days til my next concert in Dortmund.

Walter, I'll miss 26 and 27 May. I'll be at the Grolsch Blues Festival that weekend.

What about 12 May? Zur alten Post in Wegberg, Germany (near Roermond/NL / Mönchengladbach/DE)

We'll see us today!

Re: Ryan McGarvey

I'm so glad Ryan has 2 new shows added in Germany. I bet Sissy will be attending. Both days are difficult for me, which I'm sorry for since both venues are so nice (and I know the bed and breakfast close by...Ooh I'm still tempted).

The BloosMooseFest was awesome!!! It's in the "garden" of an old manor which is a hotel now. The landscape is a lil' bit with hills and you could see the meadows with cows and the little village far behind it.
Line up was pure fun! Every group/ artist gave their best. For me the absolute best were Ryan and Eric, both very good guitarplaying , a lot of positive energy and nice songs. Ben, Joints and Haze&Horns were pure fun and very enthousiastic. Henrik had a good start, good playing and singing. Fine sound. But: so boring at the end. Too bad for me I don't like Wolkenwinde at all (so extending it, is just not my cup of tea).
Nevertheless a great day and I hope the festival will be there next year too! To me, it had the same good feeling as the Shöppingen Grolsch Blues festival!

BonApostle HAVE FUN!!!

Re: Ryan McGarvey

And oh yeah I agree about the jamming! Even better would be more songs with different couples!

Re: Ryan McGarvey

tomorrow is THE DAY  . . .

Re: Ryan McGarvey

I'm sooo sorry - for ALL the people that didn't come to see Ryan yesterday in the Downtown Bluesclub.
When I saw him in November 2011 in the same venue I liked his playing but yesterday I LOVED every second of the gig!

Hope to see him again in the next weeks . . .
