The Bluesmoosefest in Groesbeek was the hell of a festival.
Nicest place you can imagine. Perfect spot.
Great bands, great sound, nice people even the weather was fine ...
Festival was opened with Ben Poole. And yes, this young Brit has a voice and can play. He started very rocky for the early afternoon ... so I needed some time to rock with him. I’m looking forward to see him again in Schöppingen.
Next guys on stage were Ryan McGarvey with Justin McLauchlin (bass) and Bjorn Hamre (drums) and the three were on fire. It was so darn good no words can describe. There was a run at the merch after the gig!
When Hokie Joint entered the stage the merch was still crowded. Hokie Joing played very loud, so I decided to leave the front rows and to have something to eat, comfortably seated at a beautiful terrace in the back where you still had an excellent view on the stage. Once again I have to say a perfect location.
Eric Steckel was next and so I went back to my place at the front. Eric is a pro on stage and no question that he can play guitar ... he finally got me groovin’ with the covers he played. Concept to rock people with covers works but I missed some brilliant ideas in his own songs.
Lights went on when it was time for Henrik Freischlader. When Henrik and band started to play we heard the best sound of all bands that came out of the loudspeakers. That was amazing! Set started very very good but at a certain point Henrik got a bit lost in his own solos.
When Henrik finished you could feel the tension in the audience, all were waiting for the jam. Who would be on stage and what would they play? Ryan joined Henrik on stage and they rocked the place with Foxy Lady. They played with heart and soul. Stunning! Mindblowing! They have to repeat that.
My heroes of the day: Ryan & band and the organizers of the Bluesmoosefest.
