Nothing worse than being stoked about a new cd by a favorite artist and then it lands and it does absolutely nothing for you.

I got it yesterday. I was a little disappointed at first but more listens it does grow on you. I would have rather heard a little less 'filler sounds' and more 'stripped' versions of these songs. I thought there are some great KWS lead guitar highlights but overall it lacks some fire. Maybe these tunes were overplayed in the studio with too many takes? I really think Joe's approach of getting in (the studio) laying it down and getting out is a great approach!

I never owned a KWS CD until Live in Chicago, but that one really grabbed me and I just had to pre-order the new release.

Maybe there's a few tracks on there that the KWS diehards would consider a little mellow, or maybe just seem out of place on the album, but for the main part it's just killer. I've listened to the album 4 times now, and there's maybe 3 tracks that don't do much for me. That still leaves 14, and that's way more than you get on most albums these days.

I'd also say it's very much a grower, and I'm finding more things catching my ear with each play. And hey, there's plenty of "real guitar" too!

Just got my copy today...only listened up to #8, which really smokes..Dark Side of Love....    And how SWEET to show respect to the Beatles with Yer Blues...

George was so nice to put my photo of the last time I saw Kenny in this link, I can't wait to see these guys perform again.  Noah's voice is amazing and Kenny is great, fantastic duo, smokin' band...

KWS and Noah were on Jimmy Kimmel last night.  I haven't heard the whole record yet but I think this track rocks.

Well, one thing this thread shows for sure is that everyone has their own opinion.

I have listened to the new CD numerous times now and really like it. Yes it may be a bit over produced, but it is definitely road music. At least for me. Put it in the changer in my truck and crank it. Good stuff.

Track 12 - "Who's Gonna Catch You Now" gave me chills the first time I listened to it and still does. Personally, for me it is possibly the best track on the album. I am not looking to inflame anyone here. Just voicing my opinion. There are a few tribute licks to the Allman Brothers lurking in there and I like it.

When I have seen KWS he has always been cordial and friendly. Just goes to show that experiences can be different. On the other hand, my one time seeing Buddy Guy left a very bad impression and I was very disappointed. This was at the HOB in Las Vegas a few years ago. Buddy just seemed to be going through the paces and playing because he had to. I have never experienced that with any of Joe's shows.

Anyway, to me the new KWS cd is quite good. Just my opinion.

BTW - I still listen to my Buddy Guy CD's on a regular basis. Everyone can have a not so hot night and I don't believe you should dismiss an artist on the basis of one disappointing gig or inicident.

I definitely want to get a hold of Kenny's new disc. I really liked what I heard on the sampler and it's probably the only way I'm gonna extract Matt Schofield from my CD player in my truck. If JB doesn't want to Stratoblast anymore then these 2 guys will fill that void that I crave. Matt doesn't actually play a Fender strat, but an SVL. He played his natural blonde model exclusively when I saw him Thur. night.

OK.....So I picked up his CD today and gotta say I like it. It doesn't strike me as earth shattering or jaw dropping like "Dust Bowl" was for me, but definitely worth keeping on my I-pod. Got some great driving tunes so I may have to make an extended trip thru the
mountains to listen to this one, BCC2 and some Chickenfoot. "Get Your Motor Runnin'"!
  Lvbluesboy-I specifically wanted to listen to "Who's Gonna Catch You Now" after your recommendation and while I'm not as enthralled, the song subject reminded me of "I'll Be Around" by Steve Vai off his "Ultra Zone" CD. My oldest friend and I were driving up in the Sierras to go trout fishing one day and he asked if I could recommend a song for the father/daughter dance at his daughter's upcoming wedding and I suggested this. Halfway thru he was in tears. The subject's a little too intense for a wedding, but it's a great song nonetheless.
  All in all I wholeheartedly recommend this disc. (KWS that is!)
