Topic: Kenny Wayne Shepherd 2009-01-25 short concert review
Moscow is finally getting its share of quality blues shows it deserves. It's been a little over a month since Joe's two-night stand in Moscow, and here we are welcoming KWS Band at the same venue. Again, the venue which usually hosts classical music events is not suitable for rock gigs. Just like with Bonamassa show, the sound was rather hollow and lacked direction and punch.
KWS was brilliant. To be honest, it was not just Kenny Wayne I was eager to see live, but also Noah Hunt, who is amazing live (what a frontman!), and the legendary Chris Layton of SRV fame. Not sure how busy their touring schedule is, but the band sounded super tight.
Oddly enough, the setlist did not contain any songs from the most recent 10 Days Out cd, but rather focused on the first three LP's with a serious swing towards Trouble is...(6 songs) Fine with me, as it's my favourite KWS cd.
The complete setlist was as follows:
1. Born With A Broken Heart
2. Come On
3. I'm Leaving You (Commit A Crime)
4. Shame, Shame, Shame
5. You Should Know Better
6. (Long) Gone
7. While We Cry
~ Intermission ~
8. Trouble Is...
9. Slow Ride
10. Kings Highway
11. True Lies
12. Aberdeen
13. Blue On Black
14. Shotgun Blues
- Encore -
15. King Bee
16. Oh Well
17. Voodoo Chile
Total running time: 1h50
The ending with 10-minute plus Voodoo Chile got the audience completely ecstatic.
Anyone else seen KWS live?
