Spider I found a picture of it that was also on a Fender calendar, I believe it was called the Fender Custom Shop Galaxy, etc. also. I saw this years before the "situation" came up. When it came up, I originally posted a rhetorical question regarding the preexistance of "it" (prior to the bruhaha, trying to offer an air of inference that perhaps there was confusion-I know I was slightly confused!) the very first time this subject was broached. Apparently that post has been yanked because I can't seem to find it. IF all we have is a misunderstanding, it would seem inappropriate to disdainfully trash Fenders whilst promoting Gibsons with total, gleeful satisfaction, when all that perhaps is needed is a statement of presonal prefernce rather than personal vendetta. I mean NO disrespect to Joe, and be informed I do NOT know the facts, only that I recall seeing that calendar photo and originally thinking "It's Joe's Goldie"! with great excitement, whereupon further look, it was just very similar. I know Joe had remarked about the scratches and something else being close or exact. What Joe saw or whether in person I cannot / have not found out yet, letting things alone. It would be good to know if an actual guitar could be in hand to render a final verdict. If Joe had guitar in hand and his assessment was an exact rip-off with no credit, his anger is absolutely more than justified. I just haven't swung the gavel on this yet. I almost have the feeling & sometimes think some people would trash Gibsons tomorrow if Joe did for ANY reason without "needing" facts. That's fandom I know, but also blind. Joe called Goldie a piece of uhm...,but I can never forget him playing that Red Gibson 445 (donated) or Goldie (loaned or donated to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame), he was incredible on them!!!!!!!
No need to get angry. I LOVE the Signature, now wanting one AND Goldie too!
Anyone want to Email anything regarding this, I welcome you to please do so.

Gotta love the Gibson Goldtop Les Paul sig.
I hope this helps to put it all to rest too.
I don't know about how the guitar in this photo compares to Joe's or the custom shop one in question but I am glad to see the photo because it had been widely sought after and not easy to find.
Actually Jane the custom shop is, at least to me, very close to the 64 in the photo.
When I learned that Fessler used the gold sparkle strat in the book "Galaxy of Strats" as his "inspiration" for the custom shop gold sparkle strat I went on the hunt to find a copy of the book or a copy of the photo. The book was a limited issue and is sold out. And as far as I could find, until recently, there wasn't a picture of the 64 gold sparkle circulating the web. I stumbled across this photo while searching on ebay. I thought it was worth passing along to Joe and the forum so that the question of the origin of the custom shop gold sparkle strat would finally be answered.
Now it can be put to rest.
