I'm not a fan of Kanye West...and dont tell me (my daughter did) that I'm just not down with this generation....just my opinion...there are lots of egos in every walk in life, just entertain me...if I dont care for it, well it's only my opinion, my same principle applys to people...take a look at the link, got anyone you "cant stand" in music...I might throw down some names later if anyone else wants to respond

Re: Biggest music egos?

I have a dislike for about every one of those people on a personal level.  Musical?  Bono I think in U2 has a purpose in the band, but his covers on the movie Across The Universe sucks!  Bono can't sing a lick and butchard the song "Lucy In The Sky" Madona..... I don't even care for her music.  Oasis really shouldn't compair them selves to the Beatles even though John Lennon is a Commy acording to Nixon.  Lennon's problem is he thought everyone wanted to prove him wrong.  He's right they did, because he didn't know when to shut up at times.  No offense to John Lennon fans and his music.  Last lets mention Van Halen.  Everyone in the band past or present excluding Micheal Anthony had an ego the size of their hair.  Eddie is the worst.  Anthony got lucky when they kicked him out for Wolfgang Van Halen on bass.  At least he doesn't have to deal with Eddie and David Lee Roth.  There is more but you can let someone else have a turn now.

Re: Biggest music egos?

While I'm tempted to join in, I don't  really think this is the kind of topic we want on the forum. Fans of these artists stumbling onto this forum could be put off by this kind of talk.

Re: Biggest music egos?

No one has mentioned Mr Vanity himself, Mick Jagger? David Lee Roth is a good one.

Re: Biggest music egos?

I remember Stephen Stills chastising the crowd at one show:
"If you're gonna clap along, at least you could f**king clap in time"!
And he was not joking around, he was really pi**ed off.
In retrospect, it was sorta funny because he had this hissy fit.
At the time, I just thought "What an &^%&*$!
Ego? I suppose that had a lot to do with it...

"Rock ON & Keep the Faith"

Re: Biggest music egos?

This is sorta a touchy subject. The things we hear and read aren't always the truth. I've personally met quite a few people being a limo driver and the celebs you were a bit leery to meet would turn out to be the most down to earth nicest people. Then a lot of the comedians who you see as funny and down to earth were some of the most arrogant ego driven @#$%$@#@! But if there is one it would be John Fogerty for that crap he pulled at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction for CCR. He got up on stage and played a couple hit songs with studio musicians while the other guys sat there in disbelief! Oh and being sued for plagerizing (?) yourself. He knew what he was doing!

"Is it the new blues mobile or what?"                                                                                                                                                                                                     "Fix the cigarette lighter."

Re: Biggest music egos?

Rock ego..K.West??? Not a rocker in my opinion! But, yes, WAY too full of himself. John Lennon and Bono I will defend. If a big ego leads to positive social changes, then they have served humanity well. Therefore I don't think it's always a bad thing. I have been turned off by an artist having an attitude of entitlement. It makes me think they have forgotten that their success depends on gaining and retaining fans...just good business really. I won't name names, but there are some HUGE, not always good, egos in the Blues world too! Cathy

Re: Biggest music egos?

Bono did help out with the One campain and thats great.  Lennon was an activist against a war (it was really labeled a conflict not war) that nobody wanted to be in.  If anybody saw the VH1 movie about Lennon and those times the mass majority of people disapproved the Vietnam conflict, John might have been a voice but I really don't think he was the spear head to make people want to be against the conflict.  It is funny how history repeats it's self.  My biggest complaint about Lennon is he really thought he was bigger then Christ.  Later he retracted that statment after beatles sales went down and he realized he screwed up.  To say your bigger then Jesus Christ is not very smart and extremly rude, wheather your a believer in Christ or not.

Re: Biggest music egos?

The whole "The Beatles are bigger than Christ" thing was out of context. The entire answer infered that fans REACTED to them AS IF the were bigger than Christ. NOT that they thought they were...I graduated from highschool in 1967, so I lived through Vietnam. The term "conflict" was used, as it is now, to deny veterns full "war" benefits. BUT...I'll leave politics alone beyond that. Bono remains active in human rights issues. Decorated for his work.....I totally get the David L Roth thing though....     Cathy

Re: Biggest music egos?

Ok, I read your stuff.....Bono gets big props (live aid/nobel prize nomination).....Lennon (I'm a Beatles freak, great song writer)....Madonna (boy toy collector, naw)...Stills (great musician, I got to be entertained)....David Lee Roth (oh please, cant stand the girl)...Oasis (never followed them)...Yoko (zero talent)....Mick (amazing at even his age now)....Bob Dylan (sober well fine, stoned..what did he just sing?)....Bruce Willis, Steven Segal, etc (stick to what your good at, I detest your music)....I'll get back to ya...1967 Monterey Pop Festival is on TV (Janis Joplin brought a tear to my eye...Grace Slick, beautiful young lady)

Re: Biggest music egos?

lennon is the only one on that list i really disagree with.  in my mind he did enoughmusically to back up anything he ever said or did.  bono's philanthropy is great, but his music just isnt good or at all special.  u2 is the most overrated band in the world and the fact that they are so huge pretty much sums up everything i don't like about how society at large views music.

Re: Biggest music egos?

The modern day Molly Hatchet has to be in my opinion one of the most nastiest, arrogant bunch of posers living off the real bands talent of any body that exists out there.
Several years ago I was at a concert where they showed up, played 2 songs, and then told the crowd thats all they were playing because thats All they deserved due to a smaller than expected turnout. D. Betts was also scheduled to play that evening and not only played his complete set but also played the extra time that Molly Hatchet was supposed to play. Rick Magge & The Roadhouse Rockers ,and the Thunderbirds also played their complete sets and played them well. A big thumbs down to the band with no original members that calls itself Molly Hatchet

Re: Biggest music egos?

Although I love Oasis, the Gallagher brothers I'd say have the biggest egos.

They are villains even to eachother... definitely a band I love to hate! I got all their albums and think they are the most egotistical people in the biz.

I've actually jammed with one of the non-original members of MH, and I thought he was pretty cool. I guess it's all in the experiences we've had and first impressions.
