No one has mentioned Mr Vanity himself, Mick Jagger? David Lee Roth is a good one.

This is sorta a touchy subject. The things we hear and read aren't always the truth. I've personally met quite a few people being a limo driver and the celebs you were a bit leery to meet would turn out to be the most down to earth nicest people. Then a lot of the comedians who you see as funny and down to earth were some of the most arrogant ego driven @#$%$@#@! But if there is one it would be John Fogerty for that crap he pulled at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction for CCR. He got up on stage and played a couple hit songs with studio musicians while the other guys sat there in disbelief! Oh and being sued for plagerizing (?) yourself. He knew what he was doing!

Bono did help out with the One campain and thats great.  Lennon was an activist against a war (it was really labeled a conflict not war) that nobody wanted to be in.  If anybody saw the VH1 movie about Lennon and those times the mass majority of people disapproved the Vietnam conflict, John might have been a voice but I really don't think he was the spear head to make people want to be against the conflict.  It is funny how history repeats it's self.  My biggest complaint about Lennon is he really thought he was bigger then Christ.  Later he retracted that statment after beatles sales went down and he realized he screwed up.  To say your bigger then Jesus Christ is not very smart and extremly rude, wheather your a believer in Christ or not.

The whole "The Beatles are bigger than Christ" thing was out of context. The entire answer infered that fans REACTED to them AS IF the were bigger than Christ. NOT that they thought they were...I graduated from highschool in 1967, so I lived through Vietnam. The term "conflict" was used, as it is now, to deny veterns full "war" benefits. BUT...I'll leave politics alone beyond that. Bono remains active in human rights issues. Decorated for his work.....I totally get the David L Roth thing though....     Cathy

lennon is the only one on that list i really disagree with.  in my mind he did enoughmusically to back up anything he ever said or did.  bono's philanthropy is great, but his music just isnt good or at all special.  u2 is the most overrated band in the world and the fact that they are so huge pretty much sums up everything i don't like about how society at large views music.

The modern day Molly Hatchet has to be in my opinion one of the most nastiest, arrogant bunch of posers living off the real bands talent of any body that exists out there.
Several years ago I was at a concert where they showed up, played 2 songs, and then told the crowd thats all they were playing because thats All they deserved due to a smaller than expected turnout. D. Betts was also scheduled to play that evening and not only played his complete set but also played the extra time that Molly Hatchet was supposed to play. Rick Magge & The Roadhouse Rockers ,and the Thunderbirds also played their complete sets and played them well. A big thumbs down to the band with no original members that calls itself Molly Hatchet
