Topic: BDS.....OK, I'm sold.....
This was a magical moment.....like when I saw JB at BB's for the first time.....or Sonny Landreth at the Rex.....or Peter Green at the Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh.....or Lowell George and Little Feat at the old Leona in Homestead.....
Davey Knowles is a prodigy, period. And one hell of a nice guy.....as is the bassist Adam(?).....didn't get to meet the drummer, Ross (?) as it was raining quite hard and he seemed to be the only one out of the 4 of us with enough sense to get in out of the rain.....
Short and sweet, cuz I'm really tired.....they opened with Outside Woman Blues, and had the crowd in the palm of their hand.....culminating with the sky lighting up with lightning as they tore into Red House.....I just don't know what to say. I honestly felt like I was witnessing history 20 years before it would ever be realized and looked back upon again.....
Like I said, it rained pretty good at the end.....but I did get to meet Adam, and Davey.....and gave them the last 3 Yuenglings from the cooler, which they seem to have grown a taste for.....
btw, Joe? It was rainin' so freakin' hard that their merchandise table booked (in a hurry, I might add...), so I had Davey sign the front of my new JB t-shirt I got in Canton.....he asked "Are you sure?" and I replied....."Well, hell.....it's my shirt, ain't it??"
If it helps.....he wrote "Joe Rocks" before he signed it.....
Almost forgot the best thang of all.....there was a crowd of maybe 20-30 18ish year olds up against the fence diggin' the hell out of the show.....obviously well versed. It was like lookin' at myself 40 years ago.....the blues is safe for another generation.....
Better San Juan
