Topic: Beautiful Back Door Slam song 'Stay'
A couple of weeks ago Jeff sent me some Back Door Slam live shows and I gotta say its the most exiting new band ive heard in a long time. The Steamboat Springs , Co. show is incredible and a great sounding recording as well. Been playing it over and over almost
constantly since I got it, which is something I havnt done in years. Had to have more ,went searching and got a copy of the 7-19-2007 Kansas City show. Another great show! About 5 songs in, Davey announces that the next song 'Stay' was written for a couple of friends who had passed away and then proceeds to play accoustic guitar that I believe has a bit of Celtic folk influence to it, wonderfully different and incredibly beautiful.
I dont usually pay much notice to drum work but this was something special, just perfect
controlled cymbal swells to create the right feel followed by spot on exactly right for each moment drumming to build the emotion of this song, And then comes Davey's vocal work that flat out stopped me in my tracks, the word steller isnt enough to describe this, breathtaking might be better. What a beautiful song for their lost friends.
Gotta be one of the best things ive heard in half my life !
