Topic: Bryan Lee / Neal Black
Hey guys,
My dad and me saw a double concert with Neal Black & the Healers and Bryan Lee at the New Orleans Festival in a little town called Wedelstein last Wednesday. So we had 3 1/2 hours filled with great Blues and Bluesrock tunes - can you ask for more on an evening in the middle of the week?!
Neal Black comes from Texas (played together with Stevie Ray Vaughan too) and sings the Blues with a very Tom Waits-like smoky voice ... he had a very good second guitarist (forgot his name unfortunatley....) who also played some Rockabilly in the middle of the set. The guys sure had a lot of fun playing together and ended their show with a wild mixture of "Blues, Country and Heavy Metal" which was pretty cool... here are some pictures of the guys.
The headliner of the show was Bryan Lee of course - the leaflet that was handed out before the show said that Eric Clapton had called him "a real stageburner" before and I couldn´t agree more with Mr. Clapton on that point.
Bryan played some songs from his latest album "Katrina was her name" and also some Blues classics like "Dimples" - but always in his own kind of Bryan Lee-style ... he also had an excellent second guitarist who played some adorable slide guitar tunes in the end. Here are some more pictures ... I also filmed two songs with my camera and will upload them on youtube later, so my dear Sister Libby can see with her own eyes that Bryan Lee is not dead at all!
The only thing that was a bit annoying were three totally drunk guys who only came for Bryan Lee and tried to enter the front row while they kept on screaming at the top of their voices in the best Bavarian English dialect "Brrryäään - we loof you här in Tschörmany" ... as it was a seated venue one of the guys tried to get EVERYONE in the hall to stand up while screaming "It´s dä Bluuuuues, it´s dä Bluuuues". The guy who sat next to me in the front row was filmimg all the time and nearly killed the guy who started running from one end of the stage to the other at the end of the set (still screaming "It´s dä Bluuuues" of course). But I guess you can find those guys nearly everywhere where "dä Bluuues" is played...
Videos coming soon ......
