Well, I couldn't help myself. And so, even though my friends from the East Coast clued me in .....I just HAD to see WHAT led to tonight's results. I'm afraid Jim is right....I think it IS that train wreck sort of thing. So, this is my take......
1. I'm happy for Crosby. His performance tonight was great, and the judges scores probably gave him a big boost of confidence.
2. I'm happy for myself because, now that Crosby is in the UNTOUCHABLE position (for at LEAST a week), my voting finger will have the time required to rest and fully recuperate.
3. I think the right people went home this week. But, I am sorry that many of the kids who were asked to participate have clearly been misled (recently by the producers of this show, and perhaps worse, by their loved ones, for a long time). I think Bobby's kid could have a modeling career.
4. I worry about Chloe. I think she is in need of a pair of industrial knee pads - NOW. At least she varied her wardrobe enough tonight so that she couldn't shrug her shirt half off as she's been trying to do in previous weeks.
5. I like that little (tiny, isn't she??) Lara Johnston. She's sweet. I'm not sure WHAT happens to her voice - where all that pitchiness comes from. I think there is potential there, but, I'm glad she's got her BRIGHT MIND to fall back on. I think the brunettes will go home next week and the contest will be down to the trio of Crosby, the Brat, and the Brattette. (Sorry, just my opinion - I don't much like that cocky and entitled attitude - whether it comes from a boy, or a girl. I think it's unneccessary and obnoxious.)
6. I can still see Crosby's nervousness......it surprises me, and, makes me remember why I found him to be so charming. I believe he really is quite down-to-earth and 'normal', especially for a kid who grew up under those circumstances. I'd still like to see him relax, have a little more fun, smile more often, and continue to watch out for June.....she's a cougar, that one!!
I'm not sure that Crosby can take this all the way to the end......it's not that I don't believe he has superior talent, I do. But, because this show is being watched (for the most part) by the 'normal' MTV viewer, I don't think that includes the people who would usually be a part of Crosby's fan base. I have every confidence in his ability - it is the wisdom and judgement of the voting audience that I doubt. I'm afraid, in the end, that flash may indeed win out over talent. I'd be very happy to be proven wrong. That doesn't mean I've given up hope, either. The bottom line is that, worst case scenario, he will be the 'second runner-up' and he will have BROADENED HIS FAN BASE by participating. "Couldn't hurt....." - Wasn't that someone's advice?

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
