Re: Reminder-Rock the Cradle w/ Crosby Loggins-Week 3-Tonight 10 PM ET/PT
Whoa Vince! In this business? The music business is HUGE. It encompasses more than the little corner of it you are looking at. If you want to "star" in the corner of the market you are talking about and you place all importance on a Platinum record, then you must be willing to do whatever it takes. I wholeheartedly support that you have and are entitled to your opinion. I'm all for you stating it in a civil manner. So far so good. I also understand how you feel. It makes you wonder, doesn't it? I would caution against dwelling on the negative. You can do as well as you want to.
Willie Nelsons first platinum hit happened in 1976 when he was 43 years old. There are others. I've been in and around the music biz for over 35 years, from bar band to recording studio. You've never heard of me but I get paid, brother. The music business, in todo, is not a youthful market, per se. Some radio is, Pop is. I agree with you there.
The biz has changed a little. There has always been and always will be producers, promoters, music execs, etc. who will exploit that 16 year old...boy or girl. Technology claims its own advances or changes, if you will, as well.
I like Crosby Loggins. He's a nice guy and a talented human being. If I sit in judgement on myself, there are a lot of people making it in "the biz" that don't have "it" for me. I wouldn't begin to guess their "it" factor. They make more money than me. And the rest of the world has spoken. I scratch my head a lot! even on this forum...
Who knew KISS would be a billion dollar juggernaut for 35 years? Not me. You can make the music you want if you target a niche market. I learned that, painfully, over the last few eons. Hang in there man. Nobody is gonna agree with everything written on this forum.
