Topic: Tone Pros?

I saw Joe's name on a list of people who use Tone Pros locking bridges & tailpieces.

I just ordered a custom 3 pickup SG, and was wondering if that would be a good buy upfront.

Re: Tone Pros?

Well, this is only my OPINION but they seem to help it stay in tune better, improves sustain, and the harmonics sound like they just flood from your guitar.  Since it also is a true 'wrap around' it also reduces string tension and you have more play for intonation adjustments.

I've installed a few of them and they really make a difference in some guitars and only little in others.  It will vary from guitar to guitar.  Try it out and see how it sounds.

Well, I would try it out on a guitar that you cant get to stay in tune or you can't correct the intonation to save your life, then try one of these.  (look at the tuners too)
I have an SG that NEVER seems go out, no matter what tuning or gauge string I put on.  However, I've got a Epi LP Custom (traveling guitar) that was severely sharp on all strings but the G, and that was WAY flat.  Sounded like I was playing a rubber band almost.  Changed to the Tone Pros and it's perfect now.

Re: Tone Pros?

Hi Guys,

I've been using TonePros bridges for 5 years now, and there is no downside.  They won't make a bad guitar great, but they'll give a great guitar that little extra.

its pretty cool - although through a solid state amp it just feedsback intune. But through a tube amp - the notes last forever.

A friend of mine had one installed in one of his guitars and you can hit a note, set it down and come back hours later and it's STILL going.  Kinda neat but not really practical for my taste.

Re: Tone Pros?

Late reply....but I fit Tonepros locking bridge and tailpiece as well as a RC electronics upgrade kit to any LP I have!.....and thats before I even bother replacing the pups.

Can't recommend either of them highly enough!

Re: Tone Pros?

I am in the process of putting them on all my guitars.  I love them.  Its a great design, still looks stock, and makes the guitar just on solid piece.  I highly recommend them to anybody.

Peace
Ben

Re: Tone Pros?

would it do any good to just get the posts for the tailpiece? or do you have to get everything (posts, tailpiece, bridge, etc?)

you dont have to get everything but i would recommend all of it.  it makes the guitar feel more solid because everything is locked down.  plus it still looks stock.  the bridge gets lock down by two tiny set screws on each post and the tail piece gets lock in in the post.  none of your hight settings never get effected either.  everyone that i recommend them to loves them.  i cant see just getting only the one part of it.

I agree with got mule-get the whole set up. The tone pro set up is the best bridge on the planet for gibsons. They are on all mine.

Whoops....typo!

NPB_EST.1979: sorry, shoulda been more specific.

The Les Paul Standard 1977-current kit is the one I used.

They're an excellent prospect for anyone who likes to use the volume and tone controls of a LP to manipulate their sound rather than just pedal. Jimmy Page was a master at this, as is Joe of course.

The problem is the stock electronics in LP's aren't always, ahem, very good. The RS kit allows a smooth tapering off in both vol and tone, and retains clarity even at low volumes. we've all had experiences with tone controls for example that have little effect from 10-6, then suddenly become compeltely muffled below that. An upgrade kit for reliable and predictable pot response is a godsend for overcoming that problem.
