Topic: Berlin 29/3/08

Alright guys and gals ... here we go again smile.

I just returned from a 45 hours Berlin trip with little sleep and much excitement .... I´ll leave all the Berlin stories out now, because that would take too long - I´ll post some pictures later.

Well, after a little Berlin sightseeing on Saturday morning I met Issy at 4 pm in front of the Fritz club ... and to our great pleasure Rick came walking out and allowed us to listen to the soundcheck later. We came back to the club an hour later and realized that they had closed the doors in the meantime - but we had some good luck once again and a German guy came walking out and asked if we wanted to get in ... stupid question! Of course we wanted to get in!! smile

We sneaked through an open door and were waiting for the guys when another grumpy German guy came up to us and asked if we were allowed to be here. I put an innocent look on my face and said "Rick hats erlaubt" (which means "Rick allowed us to be here") - so that was our standard sentence of the day - "Rick hats erlaubt". lol
The guys did a very cool jam at the soundcheck with Joe playing his new turkish "Heavy metal sas" - sounded pretty awesome as you can imagine smile.

We all got on the bus after that and drank some of Andre´s wine (very good wine, Andre - but I was drunk after one glas!) while Joe was interviewed by two nice guys from a turkish magazine - the photographer took about 2000 photos of Joe and the whole bus so that Joe asked him afterwards if he wanted to create a 3D image out of the photos later lol ...

The show was absolutely FANTASTIC again, I forgot to add in the Munich review that I love the new version of "Don´t burn down that bridge" (although the rocking version is also more than great) ... I think the "new" setlist  is even better than the one last year - a lot of rocking songs and so many highlights that you can´t name all of them. "Just got paid" was so damm good this time, it was PERFECT!
I invited my best friend Susi to the show and was curious how she would like it, because she´s not a big music fan (or at least she doesn´t listen to music too often) - but when Joe played "Woke up dreaming" she turned around to me with her mouth open - "Woke up dreaming" is just the point where he gets them ALL. smile

As Joe had given us backstage passes we could hang around with the guys after the show and had a lot of fun ... Bogie was so happy that Issy had brought some chocolate for him that he showed it proundly to EVERYONE who would enter the room, telling them "I got chocolate" lol.

So after the Berlin gig I have to add that the guys are not only the GODS OF BLUESROCK, but also the nicest and funniest lads one could think of (well, we all knew that before - but I just wanted to point out that one wink)

I guess I´ll have to save money to fly over to the UK in July, December is waaaaaaaay to far away! smile

Sleepy and very happy    Eva

P.S.: Photos and videos are coming soon (Issy took the videos in Berlin, because my camera didn´t work - but still got the ones from Munich and pictures) ....

Re: Berlin 29/3/08

Sounds like another fun packed night you and Issy had. Hope Susi's jaw is not too sore from hitting the floor!! I think all Bonavirgins should be issued with special chin supports on the way in smile.
Yep it can't be said too many times how nice a bunch of guys they are.

Look forward to the pix and vids. smile

Dear Eva,

I can imagine how it was and how you feel, Geko and I had exactly the same. You can't describe it in words it's that great, great feeling that gives you the shivers!!

Nice to hear that you tasted the wine and liked it too but drunk after one glass.....Joe and band need bottles for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your review and I'm glad you had a great night too.

Hope to see you as  soon as possible at a Joe show.

With love,

Andre Wittebroek.

Re: Berlin 29/3/08

Sounds like you guys had another fine fine evening. How cool to be hanging out with the guys as well, just goes to show what really nice people they all are, as well as being damn fine musicians. Great review as always Eva, you must be on cloud 12??

Maybe the whole chin support issue for the Bonavirgins should be raised in the street team section!?! wink

Where's all this wine coming from Andre?? You got a vineyard over there or something?? smile

Actually I´m thinking about coming to the UK THIS year, but I guess I´ll have to do a "finance check" before I can say more about that plan - it would be SO great to meet you there .... *wakesupdreaming* smile

You mean to tell me that airfare to the U.S. is so expensive that one has to win the lottery to afford it? Man, how am I going to afford flying over to the RAH show next year? Hmmmmm, maybe I should retire from AT&T and start up a new career in Bank Robbery. Although, I need 4 other guys in my crew. Let's see, Michael Lynch as the getaway car driver. Since Michael's British, I'm sure he doesn't want to be holding a gun. Dave (Shred), because just Dave's eyes will scare the bejesus out of anyone in our way. Big Jeff Jones as the look out. Hey, when you're that tall you've got to be the look out. Joebeacon to handle the rough stuff and any out of control women. Damn, I just realized Joebeacon is in the penalty box. Well, I got to have him so we'll draw up some plans and wait.......

Our code names: Roy a/k/a Neil McCauley
                          Dave a/k/a Chris Shiherlis
                          Joebeacon a/k/a Michael Cheritto
                          Michael a/k/a Lynch
                          Big Jeff a/k/a "The Stilt"

Hey Paul,

Joebeacon has got that roll. But how about if you be my good friend Nate? He's cool and sets everything up. Actually, when I got home Friday after work I was reaching for the movie "Heat" to watch it. Then I thought, well I need something I can relax with and "Heat" is a pretty intense movie at times. So I reached over and pulled out "Full Metal Jacket". I guess that wasn't the best "relaxing" movie I could have chosen. Geez.......

"Slick, that's what he calls people, Slick!"

Anyway, I've done it again. Gotten way, way off topic. Sorry Eva!!

Roy

I'm extremely honoured, thanks for that Roy. I always watch F.M.J. when I'm struggling to get to sleep at night, always relaxes me..NOT!!

Thanks Muddy smile  ... the pictures are already online (under the "cool pictures" section) and so is one video (first part of "Mountain Time").

Where did you live in Germany?!

Eva

Re: Berlin 29/3/08

First in Schweinfurt, then Kitzingen, and lastly in Wurzburg. I really loved my time there in 1984 & 1985. I saw your joke in your other post about Bayern being near Germany and cracked up. What German I did learn while in Bavaria didn't help me if I went elsewhere!

now after one day i really realize what happened! i see the videos and the pictures and ....woooooowwww

joe if you read this. i am so sorry i said i didn't  enjoy the show so much! i feel sooooooo bad about that.
i think there were just so many impressions and i was so on cloud 12 that it was to much for my little brain to handle it! of course it was a great show. i hate myself not to be able to express myself in english  sad
but i still think it wasn't my best show. i have the opinion it's better to be honest than to slime smile isn't it?
