Re: BDS at the 8x10 in Baltimore 3/26

Just got a call..there's 7-8 of my young friends (20's and 30's) coming tonight. I better calm down or my old ticker will explode! Now, if there was only another Joe show soon and close..I know..You can't have it all!!!    Cathy

I'm taking all these messages with me, a clip from the Baltimore Sun and PG Tips tea, which I have never, in 20 years, seen in my grocery store until today!!! Good Karma! Cathy

And then you entirely forget to mention who told you about PG Tips in the first place only a few days ago!

Re: BDS at the 8x10 in Baltimore 3/26

Sorry I didn't post last night, but I was so overwhelmed and full..I just couldn't put it in words! I left for the venue very early because I have city traffic issues..But..everything fell into place..parking was easy, walked to the venue with a bag of tea, (THANK YOU GEORGE), cookies, a stack of printed posts from here, a JB Sticker (Thanks M.P.), and a local paper with a write up...Just as I got there a large van pulled up and out came the band. So I said "Welcome to Baltimore from the Bonamassa Family" and gave them the goodies. They were very excited about getting "proper" tea and all boys love cookies! They were so gracious and "normal". I know it's been said often, but they do appreciate the boost from J.B. fans. Met with Carl & his lady, Bob(Thanks for all the CD's), Jane, Roy (Thanks so much for the CD) and made it 1st in line. We saw the boys again outside and after they left people who didn't know them were floored that those young kids were the band!! I headed to front row center balconey, because in this tiny venue you are only feet away, and I wanted to see and hear clearly! I've spent a few New Years Eve's at a bar called Full Moon Blues (now closed) and Old Man Brown was the band, so I knew I liked them. They have really matured in the few years since I last saw them..great set and reception from the crowd. Then came Davy and Co...the crowd didn't need to warm up they were into it from note 1. I didn't even try to write a set list..I figured I'd get it from Carl's tape or his memory as it far exceeds mine. But it was full out, diverse and spellbinding. It was like seeing "Joe, The Next Generation". I can't say enough about Davy. He is exceptional. It was another of those slack jaw exhibitions..I couldn't take my eyes off his hands. He plays like many greats..the guitar is a part of him, body and soul. The crowd erupted for "Come Home" and I really smiled at how many sang along. After 1 encore some people left, but many hung around and of coure the band was gracious. I know I will NEVER be able to see them in such a tiny venue again, so I soaked it all in. If you don't get out and see them, you will kick yourself in the tail forever!! Are they the real deal! Absolutely!!! Is Davy special..yes, yes, yes!!! I told him he was a big part of the future of Blues/Rock, and not to change...I have such hope! As Jane said, it was nice to have lots of folks who already knew Joe and it was easy to get those that didn't to want to! Nice mix of ages this time..My group of 20' & 30's were blown away! My only complaint, and the one I voice often, was drunks! It just turns me off! After the show there was that type of loud, fawning that makes me cringe..but..I'm old! I'll post the things we Bona fans need to take for them..for now, I'm still in awe!   Cathy

Re: BDS at the 8x10 in Baltimore 3/26

Thanks Cath. So Carl taped the show?   I wish I still had the nads to do a roadtrip. Lost them about 18 years ago at the alter.     Maybe someday she'll give them back.....

Re: BDS at the 8x10 in Baltimore 3/26

What a great show!  I can honestly say the last time I was that blown away by a new artist was the first time I saw Joe in 2002.  Literally incredible...my friend and I were amazed.  If you have a chance to see um, please do.  I will not miss them again.

Got to see Jane and Carl last night, but I think thats it.  Sorry I missed you Cathy...wanted to thank you for the CD's...i'm sure we will see each other soon tho.

I loved the venue.  I will not miss a show there anymore.  Great sound!  I saw that Tab Benoit is playing there in a few months...no way I'm missing that.  My buddy from Baltimore said they used to get a lot more blues acts before the Rams Head opened up.  I could see downstairs they had Chuck Berry, the North Mississippi All Stars and others there.

Anyways, great stuff...thanks for the heads up Cathy!  I saw they played at DC9 in DC in Oct.  I wish I had known!  My good friend is the manager there...that sucks.  Oh well.

Oh Cathy, I really am champing at the bit to see these guys after reading the reviews. Thanks for your post. Davey and the boys must be having a ball and I bet they were really chuffed to get a decent cup of tea! Thanks for looking after them.

Jane..Part of the fun of being in the balconey was watching you snapping your head..That's how I knew you were "grooving". I didn't mention that he also played an acoustic guitar and a mandolin...Cathy

Re: BDS at the 8x10 in Baltimore 3/26

Thanks Cathy, for the review. I'm seeing BDS on Sunday and didn't think I could be more excited...but hearing they played Almost Cut My Hair and something from Rory took it up a notch!
Incidentally, the Chicago show at Martyr's is sold out. Anyone else gonna be there??

The mandolin tune Going To My Hometown is a Rory song also. Did they end the show with that one? Each time I've seen them they have. My ticket came in todays mail. Just took a look, both tunes are on Live In Europe.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
