Okay, let's see if this works. If it doesn't, my zip code is 92201. Check out my neck of the woods (although, as I told Pete, we certainly don't have any woods around here!)
I live in the Southern California desert, just east of Palm Springs. Our natural landscape is quite beautiful, particularly at this time of year, as our cacti and wildflowers begin to bloom. This Google satellite map will show you a few more interesting things about our area......for instance, do you see how much GREEN there is? Can you see all the golf courses? There are more than 100 in our little valley. Also, if you look at the green rectangles bordered by Avenue 50, Avenue 52, Madison and Monroe Streets, those are our polo fields, where the rich and famous, and on occasion, even the royal play. We have a lot of agriculture also - although, it is not nearly what it used to be, as we continue to increase our population exponentially. We grow just about everything - lots of produce, dates, and tons of citrus. Actually, in just a few weeks, over a painfully short period, the citrus blooms will explode, filling the air with heavenly delights. Certainly, this is my favorite time of year.

Secondly, I thought this might interest a few of you, especially after last night's earth shaking event in the UK! This is another map of my vicinity.....Indio is my town (see in the middle of the map), the red line is the famous San Andreas fault (little rascally tectonic plate shifting thing), and that very large black shape that runs diagonally on the right of this shot is the Salton Sea. It's quite interesting to live in such close proximity to a fault line with so much seismic activity.

I'm jealous of your space Jane.....it's the only thing I crave.....more space. Cathy mentioned Towson. Are you nearby? I have an old friend there.
