Topic: Song played at Cambridge last night

Hi fellow JB fans
i am a Cambridge UK resident and attended last nights gig. Some of the best guitar playing i have heard, and i have heard a few.

Could someone tell me what the song before Another Kind Of Love and Sloe Gin, was it Mountain Time, i asked a guy near me but he wasnt sure.

Thanks in advance

Yep, it was Mountain Time. Joe was on fire last night, the best  I've ever seen him play!!! He looked like he was having such a good time too. The rendition of Happy Birthday To You to Carmine was cool too smile. I even got within a couple of inches of Joe's guitar rack before the gig and had a real close look at his guitars.....very tempting to just touch one but I thought better of it. You guys at Shepherds Bush tonight (and the rest of the tour) are going to have such a great time. He really is smoking!!!!!

I also spoke to Crosby at the merch stand and got him to sign his CD. What a nice guy.

Re: Song played at Cambridge last night

I got that bolt of lightning right from the first note Roy. It was a fantastic gig....I'm both frustrated by how great Joe is and inspired to play better as well. It's a shame that there seem's to be a minority at every gig who insist on talking at the bar all night, which is fine except when the bar is in the auditorium. Crosby suffered it a little on a quieter song and Joe told them to SHHHHHH!!!! while he was wringing out a quiet note....but some people just won't pay attention. They should've stayed at home. Gotta say though that it was just toooooo cold to hang around outside without my coat to say 'hi' to the main man. I reckon some Grey Goose was downed on the bus to celebrate Carmines birthday big_smile

Welcome JBCAMFANNO1 to Joe's Forum! Glad you decided to join and start posting.

And Geoff,

Sounds like you had a great time my friend. Good to hear that Joe brought the fire that he displayed in San Juan Capistrano over to his very supportive fans in Europe. You really should have reached out and touched one of Joe's guitars. I'm sure you would have felt the lightning bolt shoot through your body. smile

Thanks for the enthusiastic entry jbcamfanno1..phew, long name...Hope it wasn't your only concert for this trip. I must say that in general, based on video posts, European fans are much better behaved than fans in the States. I've got nothing against drinking but bars do seem to be the noisy areas. We've talked about using squirt guns, but so far we seem to settle for "the look" taught to us by Joe himself. I imagine it bothers us more than it does the musicians.    Cathy

Roy, that sounds great....I can imagine that. Most of the Cambridge fans were into the whole thing but, as I said, a few people should've stayed at home and let others use the tickets.

Cathy, I like a drink and I like my local bar but when I go to hear Joe (or whoever else) I want to do just that...hear them....the quiet bits too. I just think it's damn rude to talk all over an artisit when he's working his butt off to give us a good night out. Joe wasn't playing by numbers (does he ever), I could see the muscles in his face contort as he wrang every drop of emotion from his guitar. Respect was due from everyone in the room and just because someone had a beer in thier hand that doesn't excuse them....not in my book anyway.

Re: Song played at Cambridge last night

A lack of respect is all too often par for the course, so be it.  They don't get it.

At the West Palm gig I was sitting in the audience with my cuz, during that quiet moment and the place got very still.  My cuz looks at me and says "What's he doing?"  "I think he's waiting for that feedback,"  said I.

The longest 9 seconds in eternity later, that note eased up into the atmosphere and slowly built till my molars resonated and all the hair stood up on my arms and neck.  I was not the only one, because the resulting thunder that followed was from every single one of the attendees and staff of an outdoor ampitheater.  It was orgasmiic.

I have not been that moved in many years and it's because that energy was synergistic; from the crowd who let it happen, who were tuned in, there for the music and the band channeled through Joe.  There really are no words.

I work hard to just tune out noisy drunks.  That way is safer for all concerned.  At the last show in Orlando of 07, (I mentioned them in the review) a drunk at the bar almost got me grumpy when I returned from the restroom at end of show.  But Security whisked him away.  Good thing.
