A lack of respect is all too often par for the course, so be it. They don't get it.
At the West Palm gig I was sitting in the audience with my cuz, during that quiet moment and the place got very still. My cuz looks at me and says "What's he doing?" "I think he's waiting for that feedback," said I.
The longest 9 seconds in eternity later, that note eased up into the atmosphere and slowly built till my molars resonated and all the hair stood up on my arms and neck. I was not the only one, because the resulting thunder that followed was from every single one of the attendees and staff of an outdoor ampitheater. It was orgasmiic.
I have not been that moved in many years and it's because that energy was synergistic; from the crowd who let it happen, who were tuned in, there for the music and the band channeled through Joe. There really are no words.
I work hard to just tune out noisy drunks. That way is safer for all concerned. At the last show in Orlando of 07, (I mentioned them in the review) a drunk at the bar almost got me grumpy when I returned from the restroom at end of show. But Security whisked him away. Good thing.
