Weber Beam Blocker?

Definatly let me know how those work out for you.  I have been thinking about buying them and if they work well I will probably get them for all my amps.  Thanks

Well, I've had this in my amp for about a week now, and I really like the Beam Blocker. I'm not playing with anyone at this time, so I haven't tried it in a band situation yet, but have been able to crank it up good a few times. It pretty much does what it is intended to do, which is to diffuse the high frequencies from coming directly from the front of your speaker, and blend with the mids and lows in all directions. I get a much fuller overall sound.

Now, instead of tilting the amp back to hear the highs, I can keep the amp on the floor, and get an accurate assessment of the sound, and adjust the EQ on the amp accordingly.

I don't think this would be a replacement for a plexi shield, if your using it to get power tube saturation since it doesn't control the volume, it controls the EQ mix. But, I don't have to turn my amp up as loud to hear myself with these in because the sound comes right up at you.

For $26 shipped, it's a great upgrade for cheap.

I would love to try a beam blocker, but to have one sent over here to the IK, costs silly money, and then we have customs to pay as well.
The legend that is SRV used gaffa tape on the outside of his cab, I tried this and it works, to an extent. Looks bloody horrible though :-)
I made a blocker myself, i bought one of those acoustic guitar feedback stopper things, and fixed it to the inside of my amp, on the grill cloth, that works fine, the sound, no matter were you stand, is the same, so, I assume it is doing its job by dispersing the sound evenly.

Just put a set of these in a Marshall 1936 cab and it made a HUGE difference. I now can stop splitting my bass players eardrums at rehearsal.(is that good or bad....i don't know:D) These do not change the volume at all but do remove the harsh high frequencies and disperse them. One  thought I did have was whether or not these would affect a mic'd cabinet? I run a palmer speaker emulator through our p.a. so I don't have an opportunity to check this at a gig but it sure will make rehearsal easier on anyone standing fifteen feet in front of my amp.

My thoughts about beam blocker are mixed.
They should compensate the spotty radiation of the sound like some cabinets do.
(hope that makes any sense to you, difficult to describe even in german.. )
This has something to do with cabinet construction. With a chambered cabinet this sound-tunnel-effect doesn't appear.
In fact its a shame that the cabinet builder wont improve that.
But i'm curious what effect this beam blockers have so I will try them too.

You could always just make your own.  I bet that Ted Webber doesn't have more the $10 in these things.  Personally I think that the only people that would notice them doing much are people who play at high volumes and honestly most people are going to mic their speaker now days.  So unless your sound requires you to play very loud and depend on it more then a mic your not going to notice much.  The concept is old too, I don't know why people act like this is some new thing.  Its not SRV did it for years.  I personally like having the ear piercing tunnel of death when I mic.   I shoot for a bright sound and my other guitarist which you guys would like better because he a Les paul guy has the darker sound.

Yep I heard this too. Keep your weber speakers (if you have some) in honour.
But I also heard that the quality of parts went down since his son took over the business.
