Topic: Alcohol
Tragedy hit my neighborhood this past weekend. My 18- year-old neighbor killed his best friend in a drinking and driving related car accident. His car went out of control & went down into a ditch, flipped over, hit a tree, and crushed his friend to death a couple of blocks from his home. The driver and other passenger will live, they all had their seat belts on. My neighbor looks to be doing at least 5 years in jail, if convicted. The press is so obnoxious, they are at the end of his street hounding kids for info when they get off the school bus. This is a lose-lose situation for everyone!
I think this Esquire statement in a recent Clapton interview prompted me to post this. "Addiction doesn't negotiate." I've been sensing for a few years now that some of the baby boomers kids are drinking too much and some of the parents, maybe on the subconscious level, are thinking alcohol is a better choice than some of the stuff that went on back in the 70's. I have been really taken back by the excessive amount of underage drinking on college campuses and how much authorities turn the other way. Some of these young adults will become alcoholics, based on patterns that started in high school.
I'm not trying to be preachy, but with the holiday parties upon us, don't drink and drive!!!
