I agree with pcornell,
I am sure that the Wm. Morris Agency has discussed this in depth with Joe. They would not put the effort into this and waste their time and money if this did not appeal to Joe.
It is not our place to tell Joe what he should and should not be doing or what is in his best interest. I think he has a better grip on that regardless of how many shows one has attended or taped, or who you might know in the "music industry". I am not directing this to any one person, so no bashing here.
Joe has surrounded himself with people who make a living guiding artists with their careers. Until each one of us here are employeed in that capacity or have a proven track record guiding artists in their decisions with their careers I think we should change our tone from "Joe should do this or that" to one of "It would be cool to see.." or "I would like or wish".
Joe's career is and will continue to be successful. The proof is on the charts and the number of fans attending shows. Joe is now selling out theaters, ...movin' on up!
If this is what Joes management is asking, I am behind it 100%. I am neither yea or nay on Dave Mathews. I have a CD or two, listen to them every great once in a while and appreciate the diversity this artists brings to the table.
If a fan feels like they are not getting their moneys worth paying the price to attend a show with Joe opening for Dave Mathews then don't go, and or don't tape the show. It's as simple as that. But just because you don't want to go or pay, doesn't mean that it is a bad move for Joe. Honestly, it would be worth the price (to a limit that is) to be able to turn and face those in the audience and witness the faces when Joe takes the stage and the jaws drop.
