Not quite rock, but Alison Krauss just finished an album with none other than Robert Plant.  While she's a fiddle player, and her music is categorized by most as country/ bluegrass, she has got a "piercing" voice.

I love Alison's style.....and I love her more because she gave Robert the necessary nudge to do good music again!!! smile

Another axe goddess, is Kelly Richey.  Awesome song writing and damn, girlfriend can play.
She's been described as a female Stevie Ray with Janis screaming to get out. Check out some samples and videos.

Re: Ladies in rock

Hi jim,
This is more of a something to talk about comment as opposed to attacking your statement, since I agree with you.  25 years from now, when You & Me are still attending Joe shows, his setlist will also likely change, it doesn't mean he's not still fiesty & can't still show us his stuff, especially if he was matched up with a young dude or dudette...if you get my drift. smile

Sirius #74 plays Tedeschi, she is really great.  If Joe were to play guitar with the ladies, Susan is most likely with the Allman connections etc.

Bill S.- Loved Blondie and the Eurythmics, liked Gwen before she went hip-hopping...

Re: Ladies in rock

Who is the woman from Milwaukee that covers SRV and Hendrix?  I believe she is a local musician about 40.  I read about her in a guitar magazine a couple years ago and cannot find the article.
