Another axe goddess, is Kelly Richey.  Awesome song writing and damn, girlfriend can play.
She's been described as a female Stevie Ray with Janis screaming to get out. Check out some samples and videos.

The ones that immediately come to mind are Bonnie Rait, Carole King,  Melissa Etheridge, Susan Tedechi, Janis Joplin & Kelly Richey.

Jeff, I also love to hear Kelly Richey.  I checked her tour page last week and found out she will be playing in Cocoa Beach in November.  I'm gonna try to make it over there. It's about a 1.5 hour drive on a Sunday night but I would love to see her again.  It's been a long time but I remember she puts on quite a show.

Cathy,
You listen to Deborah Coleman!  I've been listening to her for a couple years.  She has great tone and is a great rhythm player.  Her lead playing is simple and it works for her.

Re: Ladies in rock

Not quite rock, but Alison Krauss just finished an album with none other than Robert Plant.  While she's a fiddle player, and her music is categorized by most as country/ bluegrass, she has got a "piercing" voice.

Great musicians have a language & vocabulary that transcends the usual barriers & touches us on a more primitive , basic & yet complex level....

Re: Ladies in rock

First off boys, I think C.A. has a "baby bump"..so will she give up her nasty? We'll see...Fret, The Band I call "my band" was playing at a small, local festival with Deb Coleman to come on after. It starting pouring rain so she came on and played 3 songs with them. I like her style too. I forgot Debbie Davie (Daveys)..(can't remember or find her CD right now), but she is very good...Kelly Richie, Duffy Bishop?? cool, new names....Cathy
