Kenny Wayne Shepherd live in Chicago. Great live performances all round
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu_63QRK7WE Looking forward to his new live album.
Digging through some old CDs, came across a couple of rarely mentioned [on here] names that deserve a bit more of a nudge:-
Leroy Powell - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfEfJuAGLnI
Ruben V - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BJwOlO … p;index=20
Thanks brother Curby for these.
Liar and a Thief - Voodoo Six
Tame Impala - Lost in Yesterday
Shuffling through Earl Hooker on Spotify. Of course I knew of him, but hadn't spent much actually listening. Really great stuff!
very low energy time, red wine and simplicity mood
Summer Madness · Kool & The Gang https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQSI-rU … 93vEWIfX4Q
Benjamin Basssford - Blood Orange Tangerine (2020)
Unusual but engaging project this from Benjamin; part song, part instrumental, part spoken word; maybe a touch of Gil Scott Heron.
Captain - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxN99WW … vBRX0arPu2
EST - Dodge The Dodo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1iM4Im4Yqo&t=1458s
King King - Maverick (2020)
New line-up; new album. Heavily touted to be their best yet.... Don't agree; it's good: starts well, ends well, but flags a bit in the middle: don't think the line-up us quite settled, so doesn't eclipse Exile & Grace for me.
There's a free acoustic/live came with the EP; couple of the new songs (one works better in this format than on the new album) and several old KK faves; frankly, couple of tracks shy of being the better release.
I know Walter as his new one out, but not sure what Lance is up to now. I do know Lance came out of a relapse with flying colors and is doing OK now .............. RIP BB

Exactly what I thought Mike when I got an advance copy a couple of months ago. The better songs will be great live but I still prefer their earlier releases.
Elles Bailey - Ain’t Nothing But (2020)
Well, she’s done it again. Another double goose-bumper of an album. This time Elles gives us a selection from her stripped and live streaming sessions that she did from White Noise Studios in the summer.
Leaving out the “Elles Bailey” request show, the album is taken from two sets, the first being songs with her favourite lyrics and the second being favourite Blues; each session a goose-bumper. Together though, you get tracks from diverse sources; Elton John to Leadbelly and Paul Simon to Bo Diddley and Bobby Blues Bland in-between (or Whitesnake to the under 45s…).
For both, Elles is backed by Joe Wilkins on guitar, who does an incredible job, balancing dextrality and restraint. Phil King handles the first session’s 2nd guitar while the last 10 numbers have Joe James on Double bass; both just so good it hurts. However, it’s Elles who was in spellbinding form; giving her all but not overcooking the songs. Just sheer, absolute class. You may not agree with all the song choices, but she puts everything in to each one and owns them.
Keeping it simple, and getting it so right.
New Greta Van Fleet - "Age of Machine":

I really like them, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
This cat is wicked cool, he idolizes Hendrtix and Eddie Van Halen, he has lots of you tube videos, he has one song that has a voodoo child tone,
Mdou Moctar - Tarhatazed (Live on KEXP) - song is meh but he's got skilZ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZvPoE0EH1o
Two of my guitar heroes and apparently Brian May can play some blues when he wants to, who knew ?

Lonely Christmas - WALLIS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp2c_G4ayYI
from comments "Somewhere Mariah Carey is waking up from a vicodin and chardonnay cat nap sensing a disturbance in the force"
Hawkwind - 50 Live (2020)
Who'd have ever thought they'd make it to 50 years (25 years maybe...) let alone the respectability to play the Royal Albert Hall? Great show looking back over the decades, right back to the Hawkwind Zoo days.
