Re: What song are you listening to right now?

"Rolling Sevens " is my fave on that EP by Dirty Honey.  Good call Jane....

I put up a post that I pulled due to no interest and no videos to accompany.  I should have waited.
I'm taking a holiday from here but have to get at least one vid up from this unbelieveable album.  Check out the rest if you like, they're out there...

Oh what a talent he was, highly underrated is an understatement. I bought PSA on the 45 when it came out and for the life of me cannot remember what was on the B side. What a very unique voice he had, immediately recognizable ........ RIP Tony Joe

I swear that I found this by total accident, it's just the 4 1/2 minute intro and it's so bad that it's really funny, if you remember Sam. But I did not know that he played guitar  ............ RIP Sam

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

Here’s a “blast from the past”, an “oldie but a goldie”..

Ask anyone when Train Kept A Rollin was first recorded and most informed folk would probably say The Yardbirds in 1965. Well, here’s a familiar face (mostly to us in the UK) Jim Dale doing his version in 1958:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw4uFIJO06k

Actually the song was released in 1951 by US Jazz and R’n'B artist Tiny Bradshaw. Mind, it was Johnnie Burnette in 1956 who made it “jump” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkZhJJ8sPmw

Memory-lane Monday....  (don't worry, not as "corny" as last posting)… I'd tell you who it is but might get internally censored. Enjoy!

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

Bit out-the-box but at the week-end I treat myself to The Cure’s “Cureation” double Blu-ray set.
Only had chance to watch one of the shows so far, the one they played at the Royal Festival Hall after Robert Smith presented his Meltdown. This set took in order, one track from each of The Cure’s long back catalogue and so wasn’t necessarily peppered with the usual “hits”. Thing that really impressed me was that how the camerawork and editing presented each song in a contemporary style, from dark & grainy for Three Imaginary Boys to lurid colours of the 1980s and the choppy camera work of the 1990s and beyond. And what a great show, Reeves Gabriels giving beans on 2nd guitar bit Simon Gallup, the mainstay on bass; just seems to have aged to about 35 and stopped…
The second show is their 40th Anniversary from Hyde Park last summer, amore hit based set no doubt, but fingers crossed for a great watch.
As if it was in doubt; very much The Cure doing what they do best and almost “playful” about it. Sure there’s some set overlap but this is more a “hits” show.  Great little end-piece where they sign off with a handful of numbers from what was their [Bob’s} 1st gig, Boys Don’t Cry; Jumping Someone Else’s Train; Grinding Halt and [dubious pc] Killing An Arab.
“Thanks for the last 4 decades and here’s to the next.” says Bob as he leaves the stage..? Well, this was the guy who said he’d pack it in at 40 years old, so I’ll believe it when it happens - but I’ll make a note in my diary - just in case…

Been listening to this guy for a couple weeks and have always loved this song, covered nicely by Parker Millsap.

Gotta say the video is a bit cheesy but cute.....
