All I can say is regardless of the repertoire Joe Bonamassa brings along with him and band, I will attend his shows to the greatest degree possible at The Vina Robles Amphitheater. I don’t drink the vino, but there’s some kind of aromatherapy smell of ground up gassed up grape juicy incense permeating the evening air.
For Those who had actually hoped for Country, it seems the cow chip frisbees as weapons tossing city slackers crowd got their way here. The only country anything last night was up road a ways at the FFA (if you don’t know what that stands for you are definitely more of a city mouse than country mouse...) livestock auction! That thing was hopping with country folk and smell and a huge traffic problem, vehicle and foot traffic, as it was part of the California Mid State Fair. Meanwhile, back at the vineyard they are reticent to call a farm when that’s exactly what it is, the rock ‘n blues came out swinging knockout punches all night long. The amphitheater has absolutely fantastic sound quality! And I can describe the entire band’s performance in yet another one word review:
SMOKIN’!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, back to Alfred E. Neuman “What, me worry?!” mode, and hopefully once out of the California air pollutants, the Country Music can start kicking the shitoutta audiences like I know this band can do, cue Mott The Hoople lyric variation “all the way to Nashvile.”...
