Re: Gov' t Mule

I checked out a couple of the Mighty High tunes on the MySpace, and based on what I heard, will probly pass on this album.

Give me more High and Mighty tunes at the shows.

I would join those fans who are not going ape $hit over Mighty High.

Hopefully the next CD released will return to the rockin jam style that brought most of us into the Mule family.

Re: Gov' t Mule

Hey Fred...

I saw them on a whim in 2000.....they had a tune on the radio (Bad Little Doggie, I think..), and I needed somethin' to do on a Saturday night.....

So I went down SouthSide (hey Jeff!) and snagged a girl off the sidewalk, literally, and went into this rehabbed produce warehouse.....where North Mississippi All Stars opened.....

Aside from the magic of that night, I've learned to understand that this ain't no club band.

They are musician's musicians.....from Little Walter, to Derek Trucks, to Stevie Ray if he was livin'.

I can say that with confidence.....

Anyone that doesn't know 'em should......

Email me if you'd like a taste.....

They're at home still runnin' for bells

Than that blue collar hell

Re: Gov' t Mule

Saw Mule Friday night. Incredible as always. At least 3 hours with a very short break.

They normally do 2 nights in ATL but the illustrious Kid Rock had already been scheduled for Sat. night so we got an extra-good single night instead.

BTW, Kid Rock managed to get into a fight at a Waffle House sometime after the show and got some rest in a jail cell... and the circle of life goes on....

I knew someone was going to ask that question. I'll have to ask my husband. He said they did more off High and Mighty than we've caught before...

I know, not a satisfactory answer at all. I'm terrible with song titles. I know they did Bad Little Doggie and Thorazine Shuffle and Where's My Mule and High and Mighty and Take Me to the River and Million Miles... but apart from that there were many more.

Karl Denson came over and did a couple of songs before he had to go on. And the keyboardist from Dumpstaphunk did a couple of songs, one with Danny and one without.

Sigh... I'm sorry. I will get a setlist for you. It looks like that show is the next to be available on Muletracks.

Grace Potter didn't bowl us over, but she is a good vocalist and the last song the whole band came out and did the "drum solo" which was pretty cool. And she came out and did Take Me To the River and that was good. Otherwise... well, a couple of songs less would have been better... and one more Mule song!!!

:-)

But... after all, I am a girl. I'm sure the guys loved her part. I like Susan Tedeschi's style myself.

Re: Gov' t Mule

Wow....I might just have to track that show down....saw Karl Denson (w/Tiny Universe) open for the Allman Bros a few years back...he's great.  Ron Holloway, a fantastic sax player who toured with Susan Tedeschi and lives in the DC area plays with Mule when they're in town and the 2 shows 2 weeks ago in DC were no exception.  The sax is a great addition to Mule's already kickin' style.   What a dream it'd be to have Joe & Warren jammin' out together.....<sigh>

Re: Gov' t Mule

The Tail of Two Cities DVD will be out on ATO Records on December 4th, 2007. This DVD serves as bookends to the Deja Voodoo Tour (represented by its FIRST show, 10.15.04) and The High and Mighty Tour (represented by its LAST show, 12.09.06). Both of these shows are on this DVD from start to finish, and they both capture memorable moments in the life of Gov't Mule. 10.15.04 as some of you may know was the first show ever released on MuleTracks, and 12.09.06 was such an amazing performance we knocked the power out in Chicago. This is a must have for any Gov't Mule fan, and you can be the first to have it when you pre-order online. Online pre-orders will receive an exclusive bonus DVD from Gov't Mule.

Re: Gov' t Mule

wow.  i just saw them in stl last night.  simply stunning.  the whole band is tight as hell and warren is playing like a man posessed.  sure, we all knew he was good, i never knew he was this good he is simply killing out there.  i had never heard him play solos like thissave for a few times here and there over there years, tonight it was about every song.  the drum solo too, matt is so insane after all the years.  there was also this part where the keyboard player had his key board sounding just like a heavy guitar with a wah using his talkbox and him and warren did this awesome back and forth solo.  warren was on probably 6 or 7 different guitars all night until he finally closed with this big red hollowbody electric for a bluesy encore.  go see them if they are in your area.  you will not regret it.

Set 1:
Reggae Soulshine
Banks Of The Deep End
Slackjaw Jezebel
I Think You Know What I Mean->
When The Levee Breaks->
I Think You Know What I Mean
No Need To Suffer
Devil Likes It Slow
Lucky->
Death Don't Have No Mercy
Sco-Mule

Set 2:
Bad Man Walking
Perfect Shelter
About To Rage
Mr. Man
Like Flies->
Drums
The End
Thelonius Beck
Mule

Encore:
Child Of The Earth
I'll Be The One

the closing with mule was so good.  that was the song i was really hoping theyd play.  slackjaw jezebel and mr man were also big highlights.  set was more up beat than their typical show, very few slow songs.  i had so much fun at this show.

Re: Gov' t Mule

It seems that Saturday night, November 10 @ the Fillmore in San Francisco is sold out. At least that is what the TicketmIser web site is showing. That is good news for the band. I wonder if any special musical guests are going to show up and jam?
If anybody has any extra tickets for either Friday or Saturday, let me know.
