First of all, this stinks... I haven't been on the forum for a long time, now 4 pages of posts I want to read and I'm at work, swamped and am leaving early to see Joe in Green Bay tonight!! In any event...
For the record I want to say good job to Dino. I loved your article (you knew I would). Considering it's difficult to get you to consistantly say nice things, I'm glad you opted for the love in the article If it isn't apparent to everyone else - I know you love Joe and that makes me love you more
Also for the record - I love City Pages and think it's the perfect newspaper to print an article on Joe Bonamassa. As far as I'm concerned, anyone with a taste for culture should read this newspaper weekly - it's great. And did someone say redneck, I think NOT!
I am soooo excited to see Joe at our beloved Grand Theatre on Tuesday. It will be a departure for me - as I've only seen Joe in places where I walk out reaking like smoke. Oh crap, I just had a thought, I bet I can't sing or hum along at the Grand. My husband won't mind - but the poor guy next to me might. In any event, I haven't been this excited about a Joe show in years. And to hear the new songs which I love in the Grand... ohhh, too excited to be sitting at my desk at work.
And finally, an interesting thing has been happening in Central Wisconsin the past few weeks... everyone is talking about Joe Bonamassa. There are JB commericals on the TV all the time, there is of course City Page and Dino's articles. I have people coming up to me all the time saying when is your Joe coming to town (which for the record is very confusing since my husband and son are both named Joe!). I have had more people recognize the name and come up to me to talk about him... if that isn't the best form of promotion, I don't know what would be. Word of mouth is what has brought Joe to this day as far as I'm concerned. And despite some negative critisms from me at times, I'm still Joe's biggest fan (Sara and Jane H. may think they have the market cornered... think again)!
While I'm thinking about it - and flirting with getting fired anyway - JB needs some baby gear. My one-year old has a t-shirt that says "I'm with the band" which is adorable, but it isn't a JB t-shirt. I know Melissa and others would agree. Oh, and I know we've all heard it before - but my kid might rival Nico in being the biggest little fan. Although I have to admit, he has to have his drum sticks in hand while watching the Rockpalast DVD - he may currently be a bigger Kenny fan at this point. But know, I tried. I gave him a guitar and all he wanted to do was bang on it. Oh, idea: Melissa, Nico and Joey can start a band. Lol. Nico on the guitar and Joey on the drums. Since Nico is the only one who can talk, he can also do the lyrics. Oh boy, I'm so getting fired!
One more thing while I'm here... I saw Anthony Gomes for the first time on Thursday (at Shank no less) - I have to say (and Sara forgive me) - I was not that impressed. He isn't even in the same ballpark as Joe.
See ya in Green Bay and Wausau JB. Can't wait!!!!
Kristine from Wausau
P.S. Dino - why do I always get to be "Sara's sister"? I'm older and cuter you know
