If people are interested in going. They might want to act fast. The place only holds 500 people. The floor goes up to row Q and those are the seats they are selling right now.

Hope I'm not over-hyping this or "excessively posting," but I saw this earlier & enjoyed the sneak peek, so I figured I'd share....

Jimmy Vivino instagram--Jimmy shared a photo of the horn charts he's worked on for Thursday. Look closely for an idea of the set list:  smile

I just went back to Jimmy V's instagram to get the link, and look what he just posted--rehearsal photos! smile

Ok, laughing at myself now...must get off the fun but distracting interwebs & get back to "work"..... tongue

Re: Joe to perform at a BB King Tribute Concert Sept 1

Wow, what a night of music! So many great guitarists honoring BB King and his legacy. Two great jams with about 10 guitarists on stage. Jimmy Vivino did a great job as band leader with his Basic Cable Band. I imagine it's quite the task to pull this kind of thing off. Probably much like herding cats at times, lol.

Thanks! It is quite a thrill when that happens. 3 have been shared by Guitar World and Guitar Player, plus Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Keb Mo have shared the ones they feature in as well. I am a nerd when it comes to stats and I get such a kick out of watching the view numbers climb. The Thrill Is Gone has had 22,000 views in 48 hours. Goes to show there are a lot of people out there that love the Blues and BB King smile

Wish you could have been there Rocket. It's been too long since we've seen you. A year to be exact. We sure did have fun at those 3 Kings shows at Humphries smile Miss you.

Re: Joe to perform at a BB King Tribute Concert Sept 1

Watched the show - thanks Natasha. My favourite performance - all were great - would be How blue can you get - great vocals and a long guitar solo by Susan Tedeschi - so jealous of Derek when I see her putting on a show like that. But then again, they seem to be a perfect fit.  Definitely would love a guitarplaying lady for a girfriend - and I am not talking about three chords on an acoustic here.

The top three would be rounded by Joe and then Jimmie Vaughan doing Ain't that just like a woman.

Re: Joe to perform at a BB King Tribute Concert Sept 1

So I’m finally making it back to the forum after a couple weeks of being on “distraction lockdown” (meaning no fun webernet stuff until projects at hand are completed) and I was planning to thank Natasha & Linda for their, as usual, superb videos, but just learned the videos had to be taken down! sad  Massive Bummer!!!  sad

Well, I still want to thank you both for all the time & work that goes into capturing & sharing these live performances of world-class music.  I thoroughly enjoyed your videos while they were up!!!  smile

I am still gonna congratulate you Natasha, on Guitar Player picking up your work and Keb Mo & KWS sharing as well—Good For You!!! smile

Linda, I saw Tedeschi Trucks Band tweeted a link to one of your videos!  smile  Way to Go!!!

So much music, so little time!

Re: Joe to perform at a BB King Tribute Concert Sept 1

***Belated Post Warning***

Sorry it’s taken me so long to report back here to the forum!  In the spirit of “better late than never,” here is my $0.02 about the evening:

Such an amazing night!!! The music was incredible and the night felt very celebratory.  A really special, intimate event honoring The King of the Blues!

Not only did I get Bonabaptized, but I also had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of forum members.  So great to meet S & P from San Diego, Lindy Lu & Bob, Holdemxpert, and Natasha & Phil!  smile  (I don't know S&P's usernames & don't know how they feel about using their "real names" here, so I'm just going with initials.)  (Sorry if I’m I'm leaving anyone out!)

It was a great tribute. In between short song sets, clips of B.B. King speaking & performing were played.  They also showed folks like Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton & Bobby Bland talking about B.B., his music, & influence.

I have good things to say about all the performances & performers, but in the interests of space & time, I will keep it brief. smile  Stand out performances & highlights:

The Basic Cable Band was on fire!!!  What a tight group!  Jimmy Vivino rocks & is one class act!!  What a pro!  Worm is a monster on drums & Mike Merritt is smokin’ on bass!!

Joe gave stellar performances of Boogie Woogie Woman & Hummingbird!! It took self-control to stay seated during Boogie Woogie Woman!  I just wanted to jump up and dance, but I didn't want to block anyone's view, so I rocked out with tush in seat. Hummingbird was amazing!!!  Also loved Joe’s solo & singing in The Thrill Is Gone.  Dang, Joe B. can play & sing!!!  This tantalizing sampler has got me so excited for experiencing the full Joe B. & band concert experience—can’t wait for December!!!

Agree with bluesguitarrockfan on How Blue Can You Get?  Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks were incredible!!!  Keb Mo, Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Noah Hunt were other standouts for me.  What a night!!!

So much music, so little time!
