Re: Cut number 7

I guess it's just as well then that Joe didn't do the "Mountain Climbing" version he played on the cruise as the one for the album.

He would have gotten more people upset. Have to say though, every time I hear the song on the album, I feel like it's missing something. Kind of gives it a little more emotion when you have someone struggling to climb all those mountains in their life and they're dealing with not just the rain, but the f**king rain.

And as a side note, if you don't want your kid to hear cursing make sure you don't take them to one of Beth Hart's shows. On her one song "Trouble" she gets the whole audience to yell back "mother f**ker" at her. Which of course is an audience favorite, lol.

Please don't misunderstand me. I don't have a problem with the use of the f word... The m...f word is a little crude. My other point is that it wasn't used to emphasize a lyric in a song. It is noticeable, spoken after the song was over as studio conversation. It was used for no purpose at a place where it could just as easily been edited out. Artistic license aside, I would have cheerfully paid double for a clean version. I have most of Joe's other albums and this is the first time he has done this. I'm not a prude, I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed because the audience should include the young as the RULES for this forum state.

Don't let all the comments bother you. I understand where you are coming from and I'm sure other do too. I'm glad Zeyer can hook you up wink

Re: Cut number 7

Actually, even though it's spoken after the song, it obviously is part of the song, as the song is about the chick leaving him with no money !

Re: Cut number 7

LOL!  There's a lot worse stuff out there!  I heard it the first time I played it because I had it cranked up.  Then the next couple times I played it, I didn't hear it and figured out that I had to be playing it really loud to hear it.  I think it's a rather nice punctuation to "you left me nothing but the bills and the blues".   That's exactly what I would say in that situation!  Joe can say whatever he wants to say in my book.

Re: Cut number 7

lol, Some people are oddly sensitive.  I've been to several Bonamassa gigs, where he has swore, usually telling some kind of story.

If hearing one swear word that's kind of low in the mix is too much, then I wouldn't listen to any 'real' blues. All full of murder, misogyny, sex. . . Not family friendly at all.

Re: Cut number 7

So I used to be a Youth Leader looking after 20 10-17 year olds and believe me, the 10 year olds knew just as many swear words as the 17 year olds.

It's all around them these days...I don't approve, but then I don't tend to swear myself...I'm old fashioned that way!!

That said. I do think that even 1 swear word should be enough to warrant a warning sticker - especially when it rhymes with mother-trucker... wink

Re: Cut number 7

I totally get choosing when to play the clean version vs the regular, depending on your audience. My 8 year old is a Lady Gaga fan, and there are a couple songs we always skip over.
That being said, when I heard Track #7 for the first time, the end brought a huge smile to my face! hahaha I had to play it again and louder to really hear it, it made my day.

Re: Cut number 7

Also, no one seemed to mind the fairly obvious drug refrence in the last album. . .

Re: Cut number 7

Our local blues station managed to play the infamous "Cut 7" live on the air Saturday without incident.    LOL....I was listening....waiting.....annnnd, nothing.  Rock on Joe!

Re: Cut number 7

to be honest.. the words on the end of track 7 are very quiet and mumbled anyways.
first time I heard it, I was like what was that..
then reversed and cranked the volume way up... I mean way up.. with headphones.
even then I had issues making out what Joe said.
(unlike the Mountain Climbing from the cruise which was a commentary of the weather from Joe)

if someone had their kid or grandkid listening at that volume. I'd call that for calls for concern for that's kids ears.

but does it add to the track.. no. it does not.. it was like chatter in the room after they finished.
sort of like: "I've got blisters on my fingers"
but not really.. that was funny besides loud. this .. well easily cut using any software if you liked it gone.
if you're listening at a 'normal volume' it will sound like a very low mumble.
I'd be surprised if I could hear it cranked in my car (which is were I would be cranking any tunes)

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: Cut number 7

for what it's worth... I was driving around on Saturday listing to Sirius Blues and this song came on so I made it a point to listen to the end to see if they edited out the last words.

They did not

I'm a little miffed at the bad language at the end of cut #7, You Left Nothin' but the Bill and the Blues". I was listening for the first time yesterday with my grandson, age 11, and this totally unnecessary language comes out after the song is over. In trying to register for this forum, I was even more surprised at the "RULES", page which forbids bad language. From now on, I have to be careful where I play this album. I'm really disappointed!

Is there any way I could download a clean version from iTunes?

I know what you mean, I can't play it in the car either, because I have my kiddos in there ages 4-8 and kids have radar ears! LOL
So, I just made a copy for the car and dropped the song off the playlist. Problem settled smile

Keep looking at the bright side~~ Lindy
