Ya know, I don't really understand why Tulsa gets so many more acts than we do, but on that note, Wife and I really don't mind going to Tulsa for music. We get a room in a downtown Tulsa hotel, go enjoy the Brady District, and we love the Brady Theatre ( or also known as The Old Lady on Brady ) , we go visit Prairie Ales brewery, and all in all, its a good trip .
But we would go to more concerts if it was local, as we run up a good tab on our Tulsa trips.
David Kelso with KXRO, told me Tulsa gets more music acts, because they have the heritage or legacy, of Leon Russell and Church Studio and Shelter Records, along with the biggest part of Derek and the Dominoes , i.e. Jim Gordon and Carl Radle. Along with the reality of myth, that Clapton spent time in Tulsa in the late 70's , when he had it in his mind to be a country music guy and of course , his good friend JJ Cale was in Tulsa with his rockabilly " Tulsa Sound " .
But in reality, I gotta think there's as many music fans in OKC as Tulsa. IDK why we get the country acts and Tulsa gets the blues/rock acts.
Was very happy to see Tedechi/Trucks at the Zoo Amp, even though I traveled to Tulsa to see them at the Brady in April , but that's the kind of acts that avoid OKC. BTW, that was one of the most fun concerts I've been to, it was pouring down rain from Tropical Storm Bill, but none of the small crowd of brave souls who weathered it, really cared. Hope they come back.
