Topic: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

Not sure this is the right forum for this,  but Joe's not coming to OKC in his fall tour, sooo I sort've expect him here next spring .

And this new 4,000 seat venue will open next March

What's the chance Joe can be one of the first to play there ?

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

Thanks for the link. I don't read the paper much or their online site. Steve Lackmeyer is a real estate writer. Probably should of had an entertainment writer do this story. I had heard about the Criterion and know they broke ground. I have never seen a construction job complete on schedule but I'm an optimist with realville experience. I'll believe it when I see it. True that we need a venue alternative and that capacity is desirable for so many acts. The Civic Center where Joe has played is often unavailable because Broadway plays there. The story gives few details about the venue. The recent remodel of the Chevy Bricktown Events Center gives other options as well. I really thought the Chesapeake cut down worked out well too. Good to know there are options and our city has a new player although I'm not so sure they haven't been involved with a few concerts at the Peake over the years.

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

Ya know,  I don't really understand why Tulsa gets so many more acts than we do,  but on that note,  Wife and I really don't mind going to Tulsa for music.   We get a room in a downtown Tulsa hotel, go enjoy the Brady District,  and we love the Brady Theatre ( or also known as The Old Lady on Brady )  ,  we go visit Prairie Ales brewery, and all in all, its a good trip .

But we would go to more concerts if it was local, as we run up a good tab on our Tulsa trips.

David Kelso with KXRO, told me Tulsa gets more music acts, because they have the heritage or legacy, of Leon Russell and Church Studio and Shelter Records,  along with the biggest part of Derek and the Dominoes , i.e.  Jim Gordon and Carl Radle.   Along with the reality of myth, that Clapton spent time in Tulsa in the late 70's , when he had it in his mind to be a country music guy and of course , his good friend JJ Cale was in Tulsa with his rockabilly " Tulsa Sound " .

But in reality,  I gotta think there's as many music fans in OKC as Tulsa.     IDK why we get the country acts and Tulsa gets the blues/rock acts.

Was very happy to see Tedechi/Trucks at the Zoo Amp, even though I traveled to Tulsa to see them at the Brady in April ,  but that's the kind of acts that avoid OKC.    BTW,  that was one of the most fun concerts I've been to,  it was pouring down rain from Tropical Storm Bill,  but none of the small crowd of brave souls who weathered it,  really cared.  Hope they come back.

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

The Criterion has acts booked, beginning April 2 ......  nothing I will buy tickets to , however

I'd like to check out the venue.

And I'm reading the old Tower Theatre is now a music venue.

But I'm still driving to Tulsa.

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

Joe will be at the Civic Center in May. He really likes that venue. Are you going to make it? The Criterion is a Live Nation venue and not sure the set up. I'm interested in seeing it. Can't wait for the Tower to open. I have seen some photos of the interior in progress looks great but the parking there will be a problem. Exciting times for OKC and live music just hope they get the support they need. $30 a barrel oil is not a good sign however.

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

Yes, I bought my Joe tickets first opportune, I'm on Row D, center section , or somewhere around there, IIRC.

Wife and I are doing a back-to-back in Tulsa on March 1 + 2,  to see Gary Clark Jr at the Cains and then Jimi Hendrix Experience the next night at The Brady.   I'm hoping we get more of that type show in OKC,  but I see there's a pre-sale this week for Brit Floyd at The Brady in June.    Dang,  I wish that was OKC,  seems we're still " living on Tulsa time "  smile  .

I got my eye on that oil price,  wife works for Chesapeake.   It can't stay at $30,  that's not sustainable, I'm just hoping for $50.    But that's gotta impact ticket sales for events.

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

I just bought two tickets for Brit Floyd at The Brady on June 11th ,  but hey, get a room in a downtown hotel, visit some breweries ........... make the best of the trip smile

Re: Jim Moody , bout Joe's next show in OKC

Almost have The Criterion's exterior bricked  ....  gotta wonder bout the interior ... and their first show is March 26 ......

I'm going to see Gregg Allman there in May ,  thinking bout Widespread Panic in June .... but the concert dollars are gettin stretched thin .
