Re: RIP BB King
News in the blues world that begets blues of the saddest order.
Had the honor of watching him take total command of both the stage and audience with a grace and style that remains inimitable. A highlight of the 4 times I'd seen him in person was during the "Let The Good Times Roll" album tour (Louis Jordan songs), with he and the band at a latter day peak. His pairings with Bobby "Blue" Bland on albums were great times too. And of course, listening to "Live At The Regal," as well further was performing with him as a child, were both obviously seminal in Joe's career. Who can forget BB's comments of young man Joe "not even begun to scratch the surface" (please forgive if quote is not exact). Joe will eventually speak, here hopefully, of BB's generousity towards him. Much of Joe's career, I have repeatedly stated, on this forum and beyond, is based on inspiration and imitation of BB's standards and ethics.
The "Nightlife" collaboration on "Black Rock" is a gem, and BB's "Wooooahh" at the end with his laugh never fails to make me smile broadl!
Incidentally, those of you who don't care for Robben Ford might want to take a listen to "Riley B. King" from his "Truth" album...I'm sure there's probably a YouTube of it.
