Re: Beaver Creek Show

Have to write about this show as i was there and witnessed the dials turned all the way to the right  wink

Briefly Joe decided to do 2 warm up shows for The Red Rocks show

First one was in the sleepy town capitol of Wyoming at Cheyenne, a theater of around 1200 and no one knew what to expect, the band were tight and straight out of the block but were firing on about 6 of 8 cylinders, stage was a bit big and seemed spaced apart, musically virtually perfect and you could see the potential

2nd show, Joe decided to haul his pretty big entourage 200 miles south to the sleepy like ski resort of Beaver Creek about 3 miles from Avon Colorado in the mountains, the place was tiny like a little mountain village in Switzerland with quaint little boutique timber fronted shops and chairlifts and people shopping in designer clothes, in the middle of the courtyard was a tiny theater, Vilar performing arts center, holding wait for it 474 people , it was like an old London side street theatre , olde worlde style
anyway short prelude and you can blame the manageress for this Joe, 15 or so of us were eating in a local pizzeria, and we had on our Muddy Wolf T shirts purchased from Cheyenne, she saw them introduced herself and we asked policy of cameras and dancing lol, she encouraged both and wished us a good time at her theater, well thats all the Superfrontrow needed, cos thats where all our tickets were, she explained that in the pit area, standing was allowed cos it didnt intrude the 3rd row behind cos it was in the pit and stage was about 4ft high.

So when Joe came out he saw the whole front row standing lol, ready to boogie to his amazing Blues of MuddyWolf, i think he was like, i aint seen this in a while, Borderline and 5 years earlier maybe, well into 2nd song I Can't Be Satisfied Joe just exploded and the whole band did too and then You Shook Me was just Insane, and what followed was one of those rare 11 shows which only happen a couple of times a year, where joe pushes his own boundaries to so many levels, soloing like crazy, blistering runs that spills out into the tiny audience and joe feeds off the power of the reaction and ups the levels even more, there were some truly career epic moment in just this one show, and what happened was perfect for joe, as the ante from the Cheyenne show was increased 10 fold so it set up what they could do at Red Rocks, it was everything a small Joe Bonamassa show should be, So Intense and So Epic, the band gelled enormously that night on that little stage and tore up Beaver Creek to pieces, we were all exausted from Adrenilin watching it, levels were so high, people were crying and dancing, it was hugely entertaining and emotional, Joe played one of his best shows ever, and thanks to Natasha who recorded it for Posteriety and Archiving, im glad i told her to LOL  wink

This was as close as you could ever come to seeing a Blues Show from The 50's  it was like a time warp back to Chicago and that era of Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf tearing it up, But Joe was just releasing all The Blues he had built up inside since he was 4, it was Absolutely Awesome, words fail me for that show, and he was Priming The Band for Red Rocks

probs the best value JB ticket ever

Here's Some Proof
Insane, Insane  what a front row of fans to witness it too
when Joe's in this form ...... "Look Out"

ps, i have to add, i know Joe dont consider himself the best  Bah wink  but in Reese Wynans  JB knows he is The Best, that man is off the scale, hope he's around a long time with Joe, love his passion and smile, he has indeed got the Blues running thru his veins too, but Anton stole the show in some ways with his perfect 50's Drumming so on point, just so so good that man is, perfection that band cool

After we were blown away by the first show in Cheyenne, Michael says to me, "You're not gonna film Beaver Creek are you? There's no need. You should just sit back and enjoy the show."  After the Beaver Creek Michael says to me, "Did I really tell you not to film??!! That was stupid!" Yeah, right, like as if I would just going to stand there at the stage for a whole show and not film. Good thing I don't listen to people wink

Re: Beaver Creek Show

Good Thing Natasha Indeed

I believe this is the best shot independent live DVD ever of Joe, Natasha and Phil's recording of this show, especially as she was allowed to stand captured this Epic show in its entirety.

Just look at the quality close up on her Joe Cam, well other dvd's go off on some juddery scan,
this is similar to The Borderline show as in Audience, closeness, Ferocity from the band, and Joe at 11 cool

Like an ol' Blues Joint, Jivin' n Jumping n Boogieing
was a great night

Re: Beaver Creek Show

It is now 3+ weeks since I started this thread off and frankly I still haven't totally come off that Beaver Creek show. Michael,  great explanation! Natasha, thank you thank you thank you. I try to explain to people  here in Buffalo that I know love music how incredible that show was but words do not do it justice. I was not in the front row (about 10 rows back near the middle) but the sound quality was fabulous and I truly didn't care where I was so long as I was in the building that night!

As Michael says, Joe was off the hook! But his whole damn band was too. They were all just INTO it, intensely, passionately, all out.

Just incredible energy and musicianship. I feel privileged to have been there and I know this is a show that will stay with me the rest of my life. I've seen a lot of great shows in my 61 years and a lot of great guitar players but this was THE best show I have ever seen. Period.

Re: Beaver Creek Show

Since I had filmed this whole show from the stage and the quality came out really good, I decided to upload the entire show as one complete thing. Two hours of hot Blues as only Joe can do it. Think of it as a tease for the Red Rocks DVD that will be coming out at some point in the near future.

Very nice Tash. Thanks for all your efforts.

I'll add that the audio files in mp3 for the Red Rocks show are in my cloud for download upon request. Supply your email address via forum PM or via the em at the side and it is yours. I've distributed it to near a hundred fans and gotten raves. Recorded from the front row.
