Topic: You know Joe has arrived when...

You walk into the enormous local Borders Book store..walk around patiently looking for the blues section within the rows of the large music section.   You have been in this position before - hoping against hope that you will see a Joe CD along with the rest of the blues world. You start scanning alphabeticlly in the misc. section for Slo gin because you already know in advance that Borders does not have its own devoted section for Joe CD's. No luck... Then...you stop...there it is...Slo Gin on the top shelve in the "highlighted" new blues CD's..those few CD's Borders has decided deserve to be placed for all to see. That is when you know Joe has arrived!

You walk out of mega Borders knowing that maybe...just maybe... all the effort and hard work in promoting Joe may have a little bit to do with him earning top shelve position. Hats off to Joe!!

Re: You know Joe has arrived when...

Best Buy, Borders...they're all finally getting it!!!! It does make you smile, well smirk if I must be honest. But that's only because we've all been disappointed for so long.  Next, to get them to play it thru the store speakers....Cathy

Re: You know Joe has arrived when...

That's actually where I bought my copy of Sloe Gin - @ Borders. I would have bought it at merchandise booth @ the SF gig itself, but didnt want to take a chance on there being a meet and greet and them sold out of the disc.  Great to hear they now have it featured there! Hope I didn't commit some kinda major sin against Bonamassa profits and the indie concept by buying there.

I went into Virgin Atlantic Megastore in downtown SF last week - ahem - a MUSIC store - and they had no clue, so I hunted their one copy down and it was in rock.

So a music store - a major one - has no idea which blues CD has been #1 for 5 weeks and that an artist with 2 CDs on Billboards Blues charts belongs in the Blues section?? Whatever - at least they carried it!

Re: You know Joe has arrived when...

Yeah, the typical music stores like F.Y.E. and Best Buys has Joe under the Rock section, I always move him up to the front if he is not already, of course.

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: You know Joe has arrived when...

Actually, that's probably a good thing - more people would probably see it in the Rock section than in the Blues - which is a sad statement.

I think I will start following suit and doing a little volunteer music store inventory rearrangement of my own design as well. Magically he will apeear in both sections - rock and blues, but tell ur friends who have been bitten by Bonamania to check the POLKA section too - just in case! :-)
