These glorious insults are from an era before the English language got boiled down to 4-letter words.

"I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play; bring a friend, if you have one." - George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill
·    "Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second ... if there is one." -  Winston Churchill, in response.

·    A member of Parliament to Disraeli: "Sir, you will either die on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease."
"That depends, Sir," said Disraeli, "whether I embrace your policies or your mistress."

·    "He had delusions of adequacy." - Walter Kerr

·    "He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire." - Winston Churchill

·    "I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure."  Clarence Darrow

·    "He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary." - William Faulkner (about Ernest Hemingway).

·    "Thank you for sending me a copy of your book; I'll waste no time reading it." - Moses Hadas

·    "I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." - Mark Twain

·    "He has no enemies, but is intensely disliked by his friends.."     - Oscar Wilde

·    "I feel so miserable without you; it's almost like having you here." - Stephen Bishop

·    "He is a self-made man and worships his creator." - John Bright

·    "I've just learned about his illness. Let's hope it's nothing trivial."     - Irvin S. Cobb

·    "He is not only dull himself; he is the cause of dullness in others."     - Samuel Johnson

·    "He is simply a shiver looking for a spine to run up." - Paul Keating

·    "In order to avoid being called a flirt, she always yielded easily." - Charles, Count Talleyrand

·    "He loves nature in spite of what it did to him." - Forrest Tucker

·    "Why do you sit there looking like an envelope without any address on it?" - Mark Twain

·    "His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork."     - Mae West

·    "Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go."     - Oscar Wilde

·    "He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts... for support rather than illumination." - Andrew Lang (1844-1912)

·    "He has Van Gogh's ear for music." - Billy Wilder

·    "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it."  Groucho Marx

"To repeat a good thing is to sit still; to take a chance is to grow." - Joe Bonamassa

Re: What makes you laugh/smile ?

I've never seen the movie all the way through, nor do I want to. Caught this part Sunday while waiting for NFL football. Knowing Beldar, you could predict what was coming.

The guy from "borat". I can't recall his name ...

Re: What makes you laugh/smile ?

they brought Brian the dog back from the dead on Family Guy last night, thanks to Stewie's time machine. It seemed inevitable. Vinnie the new dog was cool with it, Stewie told him beforehand, even knowing that he would not be a part of the family any more but would return to his old life. Yea Brian, yea Seth McFarlane.

Re: What makes you laugh/smile ?

In these days of assaults on faith,  religions and belief structures, acts like this restore my faith in humanity. Sometimes you just have to do the right thing.  Returning these to the reservation in Arizona will be tough. The Hopi believe that each sacred object is the abode of a living spirit and confining the object will suffocate that spirit.

she demolishes the world record, 125 pound mother of four. She didn't have to eat any side dishes, still ridiculous. It was reported that about an hour later she ate a cheeseburger. Check out the other stuff she has taken down.

I have friends who love to go on cruises. I'd find them incredibly boring.  Then again they didn't tell me about that E ticket ride..... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8dd_1305213553

That is so horrible, but I will admit, I did laugh! Thank goodness that never happened on the cruises I've been on.

I love the Churchill quips. Another famous one is after Lady Astor had reproached him at a dinner party "Sir, you're drunk!", he retorted; "Yes, Madam, I am. But in the morning, I will be sober and you will still be ugly."

Re: What makes you laugh/smile ?

this guy is absolutely off the charts. I never was any good unless I had about 12 beers in me, much less at trick shots. I've just started learning/playing the Hustle Kings video game for PS3 and it is humbling to say the least, son is kicking my arse.

Don't know if this counts as a laugh/smile moment, but it carries a major "Awww......" alert. Enjoy:-

Re: What makes you laugh/smile ?

too cute, I've seen that reaction from other dogs but seems like this little guy is singing/playing along with it, kinda like we do sometimes at a concert.
