Sweet.  I tore up some Bad Co. vinyl in the day, too.  Timeless stuff.  Thanks for sharing the experience.  Brings back some good concert memories, as well....

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Paul Rodgers

Our next show is Bad Company, second on the bill, with Black Stone Cherry (third) and Lynyrd Skynyrd (top billing), in Virginia. All of you saying how good Paul is are just whetting our appetite!

Re: Paul Rodgers

Hey Kenny thanks for the link and the information. I enjoyed even those short clips.

It sounds like a very 'honest' recording, if you know what I mean. His voice is in fine form. I actually think he could have a sort of hit with this album. The music really, even from these short clips showcases his voice to such a great extent.

I bet he was really on form when he made this because this music was his own personal starting and reference point.

How great it is to hear a Hammond so high in the mix as well. It really makes the song 'swell' up when it comes in. I'm so glad this instrument (which never went away) is really back in vogue again.

I'm gonna buy this no question. My own musical tastes have turned full circle these days and it is incredible how often I find myself searching out real vocalist songs to sing. I think this album will be packed with 'em!

Re: Paul Rodgers

Great finding this.

I will get the album alone just for "I've Been Loving You Too Long".  Awwwww Man, I can't wait to hear that one in full, cause he sounds like he just Killed That.  I think he is gonna have me on my knees on that one.  Or make me cry.  Oh, that is Pure Paul  big_smile(no Swoon and faint smiley)

Re: Paul Rodgers

Like Muddy Water Blues this could give him a welcome kickstart as his career has been a bit stagnant of late.

He is lining up some showcase gigs to support the album.I would expect them to be in the USA primarily.

Yes, keep me posted Kenny.  I hope he makes it over your way too with this tour.  I hit up all the shows I could when he did the Muddy Waters tour.  One of the best tours of my life.  It was so special, that is one of my favorite albums of all-time.

That would be so wonderful if this new album can be a launching pad for a lot more music from him.
He was born to sing, When he opened his mouth, it was written in stone.

I know he has mentioned he has written some material with his writing partner. Hoping to hear lots more from him too smile

I thank you, Roger. smile That's pure class.

After playing a track from the Royal Sessions this evening PJ said that he's negotiating for Paul to play on his show in a couple of weeks. Something big to look forward to. wink

Re: Paul Rodgers

Bought the new album today - the special edition with 3 extra songs plus a DVD.

I am going to have to play this a lot more as it certainly didn't grab my attention after the first play. The songs are "made" for Rodgers voice but everything seems so effortless. Guess I was hoping for a bit of risk taking. Just found out that the album was made in 3 days. Too safe in my opinion.

Very interesting take on Walk On By though.

Re: Paul Rodgers

Very chilled very slick great tunes and voice

Have to agree needs a edge but I do like it nice hammond sound swirling in the back ground Walk on By love it !!!
