Congrats to the Hawks

If that series didn't raise your blood pressure, you may want to check for a pulse!
Don't mean to sound like I'm whining, but I'm bummed I'll be missing Friday's parade. I'm playing golf with clients that morning, but my heart will be on the streets of Chicago!

Wait.....there is no Game 7?
I could not imagine the shock in that building: "Game seven...no wait overtime...Oh crap...Hawks Champions!"
Until next year. Go Whalers!

Congrats to Bill S and his 'Hawks.  Great series by all.  Hope to repeat the experience sometime in the not too distant future.

The day after the Cup is presented is the worst sports day of the year, at least in North America. Months of nothing but baseball and pre-season football ahead.

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

And particularly lousy baseball, this year, no matter who you root for, as a Chicago fan.... sad

But the Hawks...oh yeah.  What a finish to an amazing season, even in the sense that there ever was one, this year.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Baseball is so low in my worldview that gradations of lousy are meaningless wink

At least watching Worlds Strongest Man there is the possibility of a hernia or burst blood vessel to keep the interest going!!!!

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Ha! This hockey season will stretch we'll past the World Series!

The dismantling of the NHL Champs has begun:
Dave Bolland traded to Toronto
Michael Frolik traded to Winnipeg

On a positive note , Brian Bickel re-signed for 4 years.

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

I am very excited for the season to start up here in FL and glad that I see a thread about hockey! I know we don't have the most impressive team, but we try and I'm more than happy to go to a nice cold arena to watch the biscuit get passed around and maybe see a few fisticuffs! Yay for Hockey!!!

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Chicago Blackhawks baby!! smile I'm thinking another championship is in order!

I've been a Blackhawks fan ever since I can remember. Grew up watching Hull and Mikita...saw lots of really good teams as well as really bad ones. The current version (since Toews and Kane arrived) has brought hockey back into the public eye in Chicago.

Current Florida GM Dale Tallon had a big hand in building the 2010 championship team in Chicago. He knows what he's doing and, if he's given the payroll, will build a good team in Florida.

Most of the (so called) experts are picking the Hawks to repeat. IMO, since the salary cap was implemented, the NHL is the toughest professional sport to win consecutive championships. That said, the Hawks lost very few players and have as good a chance as anyone and a better chance than 90% of the league. I certainly wouldn't bet against them.
Go Hawks!!

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Bill, we are diehard Hurricanes fans.  Even though the Canes have stumbled a lot since the Cup win, we still love 'em!  Hoping to travel to some new arenas to watch hockey this year.  Took our kids up to Toronto to the Hockey Hall of Fame and hit several arenas up and down the east coast.  Was great fun.
