Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Tim,
I certainly didn't mean to imply that Boston/Toronto game 7 wasn't exciting, cause it was an unbelievable game.
As far as the two Hawks game (last night or Detroit game 7), you may be right...but I'll never forget  that Detroit game. Like you said about game 7's and the loser being out, except the Hawks fought back from a 3-1 deficit, so that game 7 win was a little enhanced. And as far as I'm concerned, there's no reason to duck because you're a Caps fan. Try being a Cubs fan, lol.
There's two things we can agree on:
This is an great time of year if youre a hockey fan and.....Go Hawks.

Bill, just trying to say how I saw it and that's all. Games affect us all differently and that's a good thing. All the games we've been talking about I see going down as classics but just don't know what order it will be. As for the Cubs fan I'm with you and the heartache of them not going to the series. If the Red Sox can get the series rings I sure hope to see the Cubs get it done one day. Back in the day I will never understand how they never made it with teams with Banks, Santo, Sandburg, etc. Still gotta root for them. Seems like more often than not I root for the underdogs. Like seeing someone nobody expects make it to the top ..... like Joe's done I guess.

Great chatting with you and lets hope for some more of those memorable games on the ice.

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

They didn't play anything close to 3 periods Bill. Crawford can't do it all to keep them in the games. Looks like so many things they aren't doing on the ice and not blaming Toews for everything either.  Better get it done in game 4 or its going to be too big of a hole to climb out of.

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Game 3 never seemed to be in doubt and lacked that excitement of the first two games. Hawks would come into the zone and it was mostly one and done. Another thing taking the edge off this series is it is almost like they respect each other too much. That make sense? No real animosity between the teams. Maybe that will change after the ending of this game.
Don't get me wrong, I am not totally into fighting and chippy play, but something is lacking in this series...Hatred.

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

I said mid year that the only weakness for this Hawks team was their PP. That is proving prophetic. Not only have they not scored on the PP, not only have they not generated any shots (or scoring chances), they have given Boston short handed opportunities and have actually shifted momentum back to the Bruins. They would be better off declining the penalties at this point, because they are better 5 on 5 than 5 on 4. That is not their only problem, but IMO, it is their biggest problem.
Hope they can straighten some things out, including getting Hossa back in the line up.
This team has always been best with their backs against the wall, which is where they are. You still have to win 4, but a 3-1 hole would be a very steep climb.

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Hoping the Hawks tie this up.  Boston is NOT Detroit, and won't give up 3 wins in a row, if that's what the Hawks end up needing after tonight.  Hope that first period on Saturday was not all the Hawks have left in the tank.  I don't think so, because as has been said, they play well when something is seriously at stake.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Now that is a hockey game!  Desperation ruled the night!

2-2, 2 to go to win either way.

No "fix"?

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

According to my sources, the fixed fix required some conciliatory adjustments to affix the correct fixation for the select phew!  Whom it Stanley Cup overfloweth with benefit$, I only know it is not me! tongue

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Game 5 sure was a thriller! I was ecstatic that it didn't go to OT so I could get to bed at 5 am. I can see this going down to OT in game 7, though I sincerely hope not.

Wow!!! Disappointing giving up a tying goal with 9 seconds left in regulation, but pull it out in double OT. Great pass by Toews, awesome shot by Kane to complete his hat trick and put the final stake in the heart of the Kings.

Rocket, I think the Blackhawks will fix the "fix".
Hawks in 6!

Well, well, well! I never stopped believing in these Blackhawks...felt all along they could tie it at the end...didn't expect that winning goal to come in regulation!
Couldn't be happier! This was an unbelievable finals, capped off by the most unbelievable finish!
Kudos to Boston for a well played Finals.
