Topic: Surfing the Net about Sloe Gin
Hey Everybody,
I was just surfing the net about Sloe Gin and was noticing that some people love it and some people think Ive gone soft. I pose this question cause it confuses me and Kevin ( not to speak for him , just refering to his Blog). Is there no room for growth in the Blues? Strings on a blues song? Wow what a sin!!! That seems to be such a bone of contention. Remember "The Thrill is Gone" had tons of Strings. Thats a classic blues song for the ages. I could easily sing 2 verses and solo for 80 bars and sing three more lines and call it a song. Really? will that warrent a 5 star rating. Maybe, I cant rip people off like that.. Recording Sloe Gin has opened my eyes to musical possiblities beyond being the 80 bar solo guy. Melody and songs are a big part of it too. Somebody must like it ( 10,000 in 3 weeks) I honestly pose the question to the fourm does growth mean something? or should I just make blues deluxe vol 2 thru 60?
My next project will be a live record with my KILLER band and then will be making a world blues album. Going around the world and recording blues tracks. I love the way Sloe Gin came out. I very proud of the work Kevin and I have done. I m honestly confused about what people expect out of me. Honestly and not to sound pretentious, I can easly just rip over standard blues and call it a day..Thats second nature for me and umteenth others .. But Ive never been one to take the easy way out.. I know this will start quite a thread..
