Topic: ALERT about photo posting. Frightening. A must watch!

Wow, this caught my attention.  Bad guys can find out your location when you take photos and post them online to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Especially important for kids and teens!

Thank goodness there's an easy fix (video explains).

Most folks won't even realize they need to avoid letting their gadgets know where they are all the time, but a timely post.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

#1 Easy fix. Turn Location services off on your camera.

#2 use common sense. if you tweet you're going on vacation for the week, and you also twee photos of new guitars, tvs, and other valuables, that's just an invitation to be broken into. hmm

A standard mobile phone can be a pain most of the time, who wants a smart one. I can live without most of the technology anyway. big_smile

I work in fields that Edward Snowden could relate to.  And what he is saying, ultimately, is "be careful, out there, because 'big brother' isn't just watching, he's snooping".  "1984" has come and gone, but the solution isn't the luddite one.

I can disdain technology, or use it wisely, and that means making sure people don't just go, "wow, what a cool feature".

A smartphone feature that won't let me turn off tracking, isn't all that "smart".  Too bad most let their carrier just bundle apps that keep asking for more permissions to monitor, and people don't realize what that entails.

And as the subject video explains, I don't have to work for the NSA, to take advantage of the unsuspecting.

Bumping for more exposure.  As a public service announcement.  Scary.

Thanks for that link. I had to do a "Reset Location warnings" before I could default the camera app.

I got a camera without gps. Offered in the Lumix line. Besides, they are battery drainers. i took my phone apart and killed the gps engine.
