I work in fields that Edward Snowden could relate to. And what he is saying, ultimately, is "be careful, out there, because 'big brother' isn't just watching, he's snooping". "1984" has come and gone, but the solution isn't the luddite one.
I can disdain technology, or use it wisely, and that means making sure people don't just go, "wow, what a cool feature".
A smartphone feature that won't let me turn off tracking, isn't all that "smart". Too bad most let their carrier just bundle apps that keep asking for more permissions to monitor, and people don't realize what that entails.
And as the subject video explains, I don't have to work for the NSA, to take advantage of the unsuspecting.
Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences. You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway. If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.
