Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

You are right about a TRUE FAN, but I don't think they would have gotten a great send off if they lost. Them blowing a 3-1 series lead had Boston radio buzzing.
Boston won't be seeing rebounds against Holmqvist. They will have to get in tight on him. This going to be awesome!!

Ovechkin is a whiney (but talented) punk. This guy has the nerve to criticize the refs in the series!?!? He played game 7 like a thug, elbows flying at any Rangers that came near him. And I saw two hits where he clearly left feet. He never got called on any of that yet he b!tches about how the Rangers never had any calls against them? What an a$$.

GO RANGERS!!!!!!!

As only seen through a Rangers fans eyes that waits to see if they will win or not. lol

Yeah, only one way to to effectively handle that sort of theatrical performance...
C'mon, Rangers, get out there and fight for once:

Hey Tim, one of the things I really like about hockey is, unlike any other sport, I can easily pull for another team to do well (or not) if "mine" is eliminated.

Holtby will be fun to watch but outside of Ovie and John Carlson (NJ Rockets rule....Carlson, Bobby Sanguinetti, James Van Riemsdyk, Bobby Ryan and Kyle Palmieri all played for them or their former coaching director at some point in their youth careers) there isn't a whole lot to be excited about on the Caps. (Though their imitation of the Broad Street Bullies did scare the crap out of me!)

Your definately right on Holtby. Don't get me started on Ovie and Carlson because they aren't all the "team" players they are supposed to be ....... but thats the fun of it .......... constant DISAPPOINTMENT. Will be plenty of good hockey left though so now to root for someone to beat the Penguins.

Pens have been shown to not like Olivia Newton John, so whoever decides to "Lets Get Physical" has a good shot against them, especially if they get into Fleury's head early. I don't think Vokoun can take them more than another round.

Give Carlson some time, he's young and late developer. He was playing US Junior B as late as age 16 and has great wheels. He skates almost as well as Bobby Sanguinetti for a young D-man, and is far more physical with a harder shot.

I know exactly what you are saying about Carlson. My biggest gripe is he has to work on his decision making when passing the puck and trying to be like Mike Green when shooting. Nothing he can't improve on and that will come with experience. He is a hell of a good defenseman and I see him being one of the best in the league if they can keep him. The Caps do have a habit of getting rid of good players and young prospects that come back to haunt them down the road.

I don't disagree with any of that, for sure! Ribeiro fit the punk mode well too.

That's why I'll be rooting for Ottawa tonight to beat the Penguin$. As for the Kings and Sharks I love the way both play the game and it may be the best series of the next round if the Kings got over the Blues series with no injuries. That to me was the best of round 1.

P.S. Between you and me I don't care who wins the cup just nice to stir up a little lively conversation on boring days. It's a hit dog that barks. Now let somebody talk smack on Joe and ...............

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Watching Ottawa Pittsburgh was a little boring after that Bruins game last night. The winner was never in doubt.Sort of like switching gears to baseball after The Cup is won.
Have 4 original 6 teams going against each other and it must burn Canada that the other two are...um...you know.
It was sorta funny between periods of Pens game, Milbury and Roenick had a disagreement about how Ottawa was playing and they had to just cut the segment off. It was a little heated. Would have loved to hear them after cameras went off.
Uh Oh, Jonathan Quick looking hot again!

Missed it...not on youtube yet that I can find either.  But an ex NJ Rocket (some interesting stories about Rich Boy Roenick and the Rockets)  vs a horrible GM wouldn't be much of a match on ice smile

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

Well the Bruins pulled off another one in the most boring overtime game I have ever seen! Someone lit a fire under Marchant's **** though. He was everywhere!
Jagr starting to show his age now, he was playing 20-30 second shifts. (Pierre McGuire reminded us every chance he got)
I really don't want the Kings to go the whole way again, but they are in playoff mode.

A CT hockey fan and you don't want Quick to repeat? Shame on you!

Even though Quick gave up more goals than normal he is still something to watch. Looks like the Kimgs are finding their groove. Also looks like that Toronto miracle the Bruins have their offense back. Should be a good series.

Not really.  A rare Lundqvist soft one, another game decided in OT by a penalty that would never have been called as recently as 3 years ago. I am strangely calm about the series despite being down.  Maybe so much music coming up has me so sanguine smile

Re: No Hockey Fans This Post Season???

It looks to me like the Bruins can only play with their backs planted against the proverbial wall...which will eventually come back to bite you.
Kings are playing well, but I thinks it's way premature to anoint them at this point.
After a mediocre 1st period, Chicago came out and dominated the Wings in the 2nd and 3rd period of game 1. That's meaningless unless they show more of the same in game 2 tomorrow.

I love this time of year because there is so much talent left...heart and desire can be the difference in all of these series.

I'd guess Pens-Bruins & Kings-Hawks in the next round, but I'm not laying any bets.

Yes really. Maybe the Bruins got the refs from the Rangers/Capitals round ........ oops that was the other way around. Maybe Comrade Ovechkin can be called back from some undisclosed gulag in Siberia to explain the refs penalty calls.
