Soooo... Finally got to see Beth's show last week.  The venue was a dump.  We got there about 6:30 for a 10 pm show cause we wanted to find a table.  Oops... They moved all the blinkin tables to the back to make room for people to stand...and stand we did for 5 1/2 hours.  Darn good thing I'm down 60 lbs or I would never have been able to make it.

As to the show, Beth's voice is simply amazing.  Lots of songs off of "bang bang boom boom",  a few off of "dont' explain" and a few I didn't know but really enjoyed.  her band... meh.  the two guitar players were B- at best.  In my opinion, the best musician on the stage, other than Beth, was her drummer.  I thought that dude was outstanding.

Got to meet and spend a little time with our own Jim Moody so that that was another positive.

Local talent Josh Weathers opened for Beth and wow, what a voice he has as well.  Take a listen to the attached.  It ain't about wether you like the song or not, just listen to this guy's voice.  Wow.

Saw Beth at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA last night - she was awesome! Great venue, too, we were sitting about 20' from her keyboard. Beth is an amazing vocalist, and she and the band seemed to be having a good time!

He's okay.  I wasn't there so I don't know what else he sang.    Not his style. Not his chops. His transitioning in runs was painful.  More of a straight singer.  Whitney made that too big a song for him to being doing until he has better breath control. I even heard a whistle.  He's probably better with the Dolly version.

He should work on his control more. I think that would help him as a singer.

Re: Beth Hart

So, in the process of recuperating after seeing Beth last night and arriving home at 3:30 am and the main word is WOW! Beth puts on one hell of a performance! The power and emotional intensity of her voice is just beyond anyone I've ever heard.
Here is the setlist and a review:

Sick
For my Friend
I'll Take Care of You
Chocolate Jesus
Good As It Gets
Spirit of God
With You Everyday
Skin
Bang Bang Boom Boom
Waterfalls
Something's Got A Hold of Me
Caught Out in the Rain
Better Man
Swing My Thing
Leave the Light On

Encore:
Sinners Prayer
Ugliest House On the Block
I'd Rather Go Blind

The place we saw her at is called The Blockley in Philadelphia and they appear to have a special relationship with Beth because she has played there at least four other times in recent years, one being a New Years Eve and Day show. They offered a special seated buffet dinner before the show which allowed you in the door at 5 which was great because you got to eat and get in before the normal 8pm door opening. The drawback was that Beth doesn't go on till 10:45. So we ate and then went and stood by the stage where we remained standing for like 6 hrs. The crowd was made up of probably 2/3 Joe fans and we all were discussing recent shows we had seen and personal encounters. We had to get through two opening acts, but at least we were within inches of Beth's keyboard. I filmed nearly the entire show and Phil recorded it. Doing quality video was difficult because of the smoke machine and the bad lighting, but Phil's audio recording came out really good and we are looking forward to giving Joe a copy to give to Beth when we see him at the Beacon.  Her singing was just incredible. She has such a wonderful interaction with the audience and totally puts her whole self into her performance. The standout song of the night was definitely Caught Out in the Rain in which she had this really intense moment with PJ, her guitarist. You could tell he was even overcome by the whole thing due to his reaction after the song was over and the crowd's. It was really something else. I will post links to videos as I get them uploaded. Hope you enjoy, we sure did!

PS Michelle, I will be sending you an email at some point.

Wish I could have gotten the bald headed guy out of the video, but oh well.

"Spirit of God" I was standing literally inches away from Beth's keyboard, amazing!

Thanks for all the great videos. I laughed during Caught Out in the Rain when she pressed PJ's face into her chest. How's he supposed to play his guitar?? LoL....
