Re: Joe Bonamassa - An Acoustic Evening @ Vienna on PBS

I pre-ordered the DVD as soon it was announced. Got a call from a friend last night that it was on. I was like what? flipped over there and the infomercials were painful, couldn't take it anymore. Found another time slot and recorded it on the DVR. I don't think it's as complete as our DVD set is going to be but it was very good indeed. Wife and I tried to guess which album each song was from.

Re: Joe Bonamassa - An Acoustic Evening @ Vienna on PBS

So frustrated with the local PBS here in Kentucky, it airs at midnight Saturday night yikes same deal as last year when the Beacon aired except it is on at midnight on a Sunday, so Saturday is better but MIDNIGHT!  I mentioned it at that time to a friend of a friend that works at KET and the answer was then big fund raisers here are Celtic Women, Phanton of the Opera. Some example of this years primetime shows besides Celtic Women multiple times, An Evening with Jerry Lewis Live from Vegas, Ed Sullivan's Top Performers 1966-1969, Oscar Hammerstein 2 part documentary, Do Wop Discoveries,  Carole King & James Taylor did make a 9:30pm slot. Not saying anything is wrong with these, just here locally they are catering to a different market.

Last year one of the other music specials was Santana Live a Montreux that aired at 12:30am on a Saturday (Sun). This year looking at the schedule tomorrow night midnight is Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones at midnight. And Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn was on at midnight on 3/10!! They used to have these great music specials on in primetimt here, I remember watching Crossroads from 2004 & 2007, one year they ran back to back performances of Stevie Ray on Austin City Limits and one of my all time favorite concert dvd & cd (I purchased both from PBS) Concert for George, the Eric Clapton produced tribute to George Harrison at Royal Albert Hall.

Thanks to everyone for posting the dates & times in your area and if you find out your station sells out of the package please post here or let me know, I would like to use the examples when I send my rant to heads of programming and development.

Re: Joe Bonamassa - An Acoustic Evening @ Vienna on PBS

It was fun to relive the conceret, even if it was only an hour's worth. I really enjoyed seeing familiar faces. Michael is a must because he's in the RAH and the Beacon DVD's, so he's my "Where's Waldo?", lol. I also had a few clear shots of Eva. Did anybody else notice the audience shot at the end is NOT the real end? We were all on our feet, not sitting politely in our seats!! lol  Cathy

Yes, and you were actually about 6" taller than real life when you popped up! George, about 6" shorter lol

I am also on the RAH DVD, the Beacon DVD, and Vienna DVD.  It's true, kids.  You want a real challenge a la "Where's Waldo," find me in all 3!!! lol Hint: The Beacon is pretty easy, the RAH, HAH! ...good luck!

Re: Joe Bonamassa - An Acoustic Evening @ Vienna on PBS

I managed to stay up until midnight Saturday to watch it here, and it is soooo goood!! I cannot wait to see the entire show. Rather interesting and quite disappointing here is there was no ticket and/or meet & greet package offered hmm I was seriously going to consider purchasing it? It was dvd for $60.00 and dvd/cd for $75.00. Not sure how all this works, but curious, KET chooses not to take the ticket package? The November show in Louisville came about too late to include a ticket package. I'm sorry it's just baffling to me. They did do a ticket package for the May Rupp Arena show last year and I can guess it did not do well because they aired the Beacon Show last year it aired at midnight on a Sunday. (see my rant above ^) I'm just so daggone frustrated with them here locally, I really feel like they are missing out on potential donations.

I also found this interesting during the prerecorded breaks that I assume also aired in other markets, Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis is there with the host for commentary. REALLY???  I would hope if he's on PBS talking about how great Joe & this performance are he could surely give him more space than the tiny blurp that was in there last spring for the release of DTTD. I feel like if he can do it there he can do it in print in Rolling Stone? My apologies if this was J & R's choice for the commentary or if this writer really has seen the light and there is something forthcoming. I just didn't like it, maybe it's just me?

And as I mentioned in my previous post if you have experiences to share, such as selling out packages in your area, costs in your area, please post here or by private message. Any feed back you can give to help my cause with the local affiliate for future Joe shows on PBS, would be greatly appreciated. We will have 4 London shows and Joe & Beth that could potentially be aired on PBS.

Ho hum, our local is still running it. 3rd airing last night in primetime which I caught when I was hoping to see Young Sherlock. hmm Darn it Joe, you are cutting into my favorite shows! (it did beat the brain man show though)  Scheduled again on Saturday night which will be good bag packing music. smile Still selling tickets and packages for the December seats at a hefty markup. They must be doing well!

I have been trying to get tickets to Cleveland in November.  But I live in Pittsburgh and can't access the Cleveland PBS broadcasts.  After researching, PBS told me they offered 85 tickets in rows 6-18 for $250 a pair.  The offer was sold out in the first 2 fund raising segments!

Obviously I missed it and unfortunately they are not selling any more tickets, just CDs/DVDs.
