So frustrated with the local PBS here in Kentucky, it airs at midnight Saturday night same deal as last year when the Beacon aired except it is on at midnight on a Sunday, so Saturday is better but MIDNIGHT! I mentioned it at that time to a friend of a friend that works at KET and the answer was then big fund raisers here are Celtic Women, Phanton of the Opera. Some example of this years primetime shows besides Celtic Women multiple times, An Evening with Jerry Lewis Live from Vegas, Ed Sullivan's Top Performers 1966-1969, Oscar Hammerstein 2 part documentary, Do Wop Discoveries, Carole King & James Taylor did make a 9:30pm slot. Not saying anything is wrong with these, just here locally they are catering to a different market.
Last year one of the other music specials was Santana Live a Montreux that aired at 12:30am on a Saturday (Sun). This year looking at the schedule tomorrow night midnight is Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones at midnight. And Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn was on at midnight on 3/10!! They used to have these great music specials on in primetimt here, I remember watching Crossroads from 2004 & 2007, one year they ran back to back performances of Stevie Ray on Austin City Limits and one of my all time favorite concert dvd & cd (I purchased both from PBS) Concert for George, the Eric Clapton produced tribute to George Harrison at Royal Albert Hall.
Thanks to everyone for posting the dates & times in your area and if you find out your station sells out of the package please post here or let me know, I would like to use the examples when I send my rant to heads of programming and development.
